I am glad i stumbled on this site out of boredom bc i got yall.
I rushed a couple years ago and i loved a house based off of their values and views they -portrayed-, mainly how important love is. meanwhile i had one house that i had amazing conversations with. on pref i was torn bc i liked the values and look of the other house. I chose it, pretty much based off a video they made for recruitment. However the other girls seemed to care about me and like me. I dropped after 2 years bc i hated my sorority and how the girls were in it. I 110% know my experience would have been different at the other one. and the 2 houses i am talking ab are almost equal “ranks” wise if that matters to people. but it shouldn’t. go where u think ur gonna make friends right off the bat. bc the other house was genuine & laid back, which is what i thought i was getting at the one i picked bc i was like oh they’re all like that, NO.

If I went through rush again I wouldn’t have let all my friends from home tell me to go a certain frat because of size and rep, I would have actually gotten to know them and tried to find my fit

Freshman here - not me because I landed exactly where I wanted, but a girl in our NM class told me, much much later after the fact, that she cried at first in private when she got our house on bid day and was really upset for a good while because she really wanted her other pick. But now she wonders what on Earth was she thinking because she is so happy with our house and loves her big and she and I are the very best of friends and we can't imagine not having each other, which would have never happened if we were in different sororities. Now, she cannot even remember why she was so focused on that other sorority, and has only about 3 or 4 friends in that house. So I guess about doing rush differently, she would not ruin her first few weeks of being in a sorority with regrets, and would be more open to what she had in front of her.
