21 is too old to be pledging!! Hahahaha Most of the guys pledge at 18 as freshman. What does a 21 have in common with 18 year olds. Sounds like he is trying to relive his freshman year over again.

If you are not connected to SAE and have no stake in their success or failure, why do you care how old their pledges are?

Because appearances mean everything. It appears very weird.

@Kravitz you appear to be critiquing complete strangers on an anonymous website based on their age and personal social choices, so maybe look inward. Xoxo

Respectfully, you are doing the same. May I add that I do know the older guys pledging and many of our buddies think it’s strange at our age to pledge. Just an observation being made on a Greek life platform.

Some guys defer college to go in the military or for other reasons. College and fraternity life is a new experience for them and if they want to join and the brothers want to bid them it shouldn't be any skin off anybody else's nose. If he finds out that he is too mature then he can drop. Until then he can buy the alcohol for his pledge class, but honestly there is not that much difference in maturity in guys from 18 to 22, just a difference in their experiences. Guys don't really grow up until they hit 25.

Way to admit to everyone that your actives and older pledges will be buying and providing alcohol for the young guys. Expect IFC, who reads this page, to come down on all of the frats.

The way this reads I’m thinking an SAE mom is reading this and is mad her boy is being called out. “Many boys defer to the military” Come on, mom! That’s not language a student would use. I doubt a soldier coming back to college gives a rip about pledging a frat at 22. They’ve taken ordered from their platoon leader. They don’t need the actives yelling at them. Hahahah good try

You know what "defer" means in college admission, right? No, because you didn't go to college.
