Spring rush strategy

So this years rush I made the mistake of mostly focusing on one(maybe 2) fraternities from the very start. When bid day came around I didn’t really like the options I was given (was cut from preferred fraternity)and honestly felt like I had missed out on a lot of the others. So right now I’m thinking spring rush might be a good option, but what would be some good ways to prepare for it and how is it different than formal rush?
