How many so far

by:

Any actives on here who know how many girls have signed up for recruitment?
What normally happens when a new sorority comes to campus? Do the other houses have to make deeper cuts in order for the new house to make quota?

First of all, nothing will change this year. When a new house is establishing on campus, they only participate in the first round of rush to introduce themselves, then they step out and begin their official recruitment process after bid day. It is like a long COB except with applications and interviews as well as a social component. There are no members yet, so the introduction and recruitment process is run by alumnae. The second year of rush, when there is actually a new chapter with members, the new house will fully participate in rush. Yes, RFM numbers are usually adjusted somewhat for deeper cuts across the board because of an additional sorority, but these are based on percentages and never to a pre-determined quota number. Additionally, panhellenic may decide to eliminate upperclassman quota for a year or two when a new chapter is added. New chapters typically want a certain level of maturity in their establishing membership, so they are actively looking for upperclassmen in the first years, though not exclusively, and AXO typically wants girls with excellent grades with demonstrated involvement, leadership, and focus on success. So again, nothing will be different for this year's rush numbers.
