should i rush my sr year?

by:

i’m debating on rushing next year... but i’m gonna be a senior. i have a friend who rushed this year as a jr and got dropped by everyone so i’m not sure if i should do it or if i’m too old haha. I’d be a transfer and i know lots of girls in sororities at state but i’m not sure if that’s enough to make up for the fact that i’d only be there a year?

I don’t think any chapter would keep you no matter how stellar you are. No one is going to give a spot to a girl for one year over a girl that will probably stay all 4 years. Very, very few juniors get bids...but I’ve never heard of a senior getting one. I’m sorry not trying be mean or harsh just honest!

... it makes no sense to bid a senior.

After you finished new member program, you’d basically have one semester to contribute anything to the chapter - not enough for any type of meaningful leadership position, and not even enough time to get to know your sisters.

And the semester in question would be one in which you are focused on finishing your college career and planning for your post-graduate path, both of which are demanding tasks - so how much time would you even realistically have to contribute to the chapter?

If I were you I would focus on dedicating as much time as possible to the organizations you’ve built strong connections with during your college years.

I didn’t see the last part about you being transfer student, but everything else still applies. Best of luck with everything!

If you are open to all chapters and truly are looking for the sisterhood I would suggest going through open recruitment in the spring. Some chapters, due to transfers and graduation, may be under quota and have spots and be more open to an upperclassman.

If you want the formal recruitment experience in the fall of your senior year I’m afraid you may find chapters less likely to extend a bid.
