East vs Ms State

by:

I am a new MSU student. I have met a lot of students going in the fall. I have also met some students that go to East Mississippi in Maben. What is the advantage of this as opposed to diving right in to university coursework at State? I’m from out of state (Georgia) so this is new to me. Also, this guy I met from East keeps telling me he has connections on campus and can participate in all of the activities. How can this be? If that is the case why don’t we all go to East and just do fun stuff on State’s campus? Help me understand!

If someone is a student at East Mississippi then they live off campus and drive 15 minutes to that campus. They are not affiliated with State at all. They are not a student and cannot participate in campus activities. You have to be a student at State to do State things like sit in the student section, join Greek life, eat in cafeterias, study in the library. This person can hang out in the Cotton District but as far as doing things on campus, he is living in his own world if he says he can! What an idiot!

Why would anyone think that being a student at a junior college has any connection to a university other than they are in the same town? Sure you may run into each other around town but that’s it. This sounds like a kid who wanted the university life at the cost of JUCO tuition. He/she still has to enroll in the university to participate in Greek life and other things.
