honest question
by: EmmaCan someone tell me why Sig ep was kicked off campus 5 years ago and why kappa sig was 9 years ago (they recolonized a couple tears later) (sig ep recolonized this year) I’m just curious what a fraternity has to do to be kicked out.

Truth: Older sisters were on campus during these years. One had very close Kappa Sig friends.
Sig Ep had a pledge who committed suicide. Nationals removed them from campus long enough for everyone associated with the chapter to graduate. Draw your own conclusions.
Kappa Sig had the then typical bid day party. A female jokingly pulled the fire alarm. When authorities came to check the alarm it was obvious underage drinking was happening. The university put the chapter on probation and national pulled their charter. Kappa Sig nationals doesn’t play around with any chapter. A few guys worked very hard to have the chapter reinstated.
These events and others across the country lead IFC and Panhellenic to develop the current reporting system and classes against hazing, drinking, and other concerns. It also lead to the current way the public can check to see which groups are on probation and why.

My google search brought up an article from The Reflector about a Sig Ep member’s suicide in 2013, so....

The suicide thing is very much true, unfortunately. He took his life on Nov 8 and the chapter was closed Dec 17.

Yeah it’s very sad but 100% true so I’m really not sure why there’s multiple people saying it’s not true...?

It was a former pledge. He dropped right before initiation. After he committed suicide, the school conducted investigation why he dropped. Found hazing and nationals pulled the chapter.
But shortly after the chapter closed a different fraternity started. Why? It is the only fraternity that lets guys join that were initiated in another house (psst it’s Phi Tau).

Sigep didn't have a pledge that committed suicide. That's rediculous.
They would not have been allowed back on campus after only 4 years if ever. There is also no news about that which there would be if something like that happened.
