Can people with the actual lists of the new pledge classes share where girls are from for their sorority? People keep saying some houses have tons from certain areas, or some sororities really don't take OOS and some take a lot of OOS. I just want to know realistically what it looks like because I'm coming from pretty far away and only know a couple of people at MSU. Thanks guys!

If you register for recruitment as soon as it opens and get recs submitted in plenty of time, you will be on the radar of any house with a member from or near your town. They will find you. And be sure to keep in contact with your contacts.

That’s funny because that’s a lot of what us OOS girls did and we have nothing to show for it. 4.0 GPAs, 50 service hours a school year since sophomore year of high school, and feeling pretty good about our conversations at each house. I wish y’all would stop being fake and just admit that you don’t like girls who aren’t from Mississippi.

My sorority does not care where you are from but we are not considered one of the top three , either. Doesn’t matter to me , I love my house and so excited to be there. There are girls from all
over the US and are diverse. That is what I wanted so win, win for me . My advice is not to get caught up in the negative talk coming from girls who don’t know what they are talking about in your gamma chi group who only want chi o , dg or kd because they are from certain areas and don’t know any better. Every house is great , here.

You have to understand that the top sororities could pretty much fill an entire pledge class of legecies every year. And most of those legacies are either same chapter or in-house. Chi O, DG, and KD have alums from all over the state that are FIGHTING to get their daughters in and that only leaves a few spots for non-legacies and OOS girls. No one is saying that girls from OOS are less quality than in-state!!! It’s just REALLY REALLY hard to not give bids to legacies.

Then you should clarify that in the beginning of the process. Everyone told me I would get bid on with a resume like mine. Don’t get our hopes up and waste our money and time in a process where you have no intention of giving us anything in return.

@Bs - Were you cut from all 8 houses or just KD, DG and XO?

I was cut by all of them. Didn’t even make it to sisterhood day.

No offense then but there was a reason you got cut other than your resume. If you came from OOS/OOR and the houses that have tons of those girls didn't think you'd fit there then I can promise you weren't cut because you're from far away. It was probably because you seem immature enough to bash on all the houses because you felt entitled to a spot in one, but I mean that's just me spit balling here.

@Bs - I am so sorry to hear that all of the 8 houses cut you! I have been told that some times great PNMs fall through the cracks.

Who told you that you would get a bid based on your resume?
How many houses did you have each round before you were cut?
What did your Gamma Chi say to you?
I will be a PNM and am nervous that the same thing will happen.

Please don't listen to the negative comments. I understand that you are disappointed. Maybe you can go through spring rush?

Wasn't trying to bash the houses -- I've just met about a dozen other girls in the same boat as me. Just trying to warn OP. Don't call me immature when you can't even handle someone telling the truth about the Greek system here.

I am so, so sorry that you’re going through this right now. I was out of state with a pretty good resume, recs to all the houses & alum connections for some of the chapters. I got a bid to a house that a lot of people bash on here. I didn’t want it, but I took it because I thought that’s what I’m supposed to do.

Now I dropped a year later I had to drop because I was getting bullied by the people who were supposed to be my sisters, my friends, my family & my home away from home. Now I walk in fear on campus because I’m scared that I will see one of my ‘sisters’ So maybe you dodged a bullet.

Did you talk to the house president or panhellenic? Sisters should never be bullied!

I am so sorry this happened to you. I don't understand why rush has to be so unmerciful.

What makes a "good resume"? People say that all the time, but honestly wth does that mean?

I’d say a good resume would include a lot of volunteer hours, a high GPA, good work experience, involvement, and awards. That’s what I had going through rush and everything worked out good for me :)

I talked to the president after I dropped. She said she would take care of it & never did. The girls didn’t get sent to standards or anything... I asked around & figured out that she lied to me & said she had done something when she hadn’t.
