upcoming rush
by: EllieI am preparing for rush in August. So many KDs have become my friends. They have followed me on Instagram and I pretty much only stayed with some of them in the spring. So I feel comfortable with them. Now some of my mother’s friends are telling me some sororities do this to see if you like them and will pledge them in August. I never really thought about being cut by anyone but these ladies say this happens a lot. What are the chances of being cut by different sororities during rush? Maybe I don’t understand the process.

Well.. It happens. It happens by your closest friends. But when going through I had zero rec letters, a 4.3 GPA, and good conversations skills and I landed a house. I feel as long as you're not a grade risk, you'll get a house. Go in with an open mind and don't get your heart set,also don't forget to trust the system. Good luck!

I'm sure she means 4.3. A lot of people come in with higher than a 4.0 if their school had advanced classes. I think last year I remember seeing girls with GPAs as high as a 4.8. At a lot of schools, taking AP classes and making an A gives you a 5.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Please come through recruitment. You'll regret it if you don't try! 1 rec per house is surprisingly more than a lot of girls have, and you have a good college GPA already!

to simplify..everyday there will be a cut because eventually you can only be in one house. so some houses that you might may cut you, or not. but you’re also going to rank and drop houses that you like/don’t like. it’s a mutual process and everything really does happen for a reason.
