upperclassmen going through rush
by: pnmokay I have a question about rushing in the fall. I have several friends in different sororities who all want me to do it, and I do too but I'm nervous about getting a bid because of my age. I'll be a junior as far as hours go so I'll still have 2 years at state but ill be a senior as far as years go. So basically ill be 21 years old going through rush for the very first time. I really want to join a sorority my friends are in but I don't wanna go through the embarrassment of not getting a bid and then having to tell them. Please give me your brutally honest advice about this because I have no clue what to do

Why not rush this Spring? You can join now and start having fun since your time is limited. If all your friends are in the same house and willlling to pull hard for you there is a chance you can get a bid. Your grades need to be stellar because they cannot pull you through Round 1 with low GPA. GOOD LUCK to you whatever you decide.

Hey Girlie Pop, you should definitely rush. Even if you don't get a bid you'll meet tons of girls, have loads of fun, and your friends will understand. It's kinda rough rushing fall. I know a couple of girls who were in your same situation and they rushed and got a bid! So don't let that stop you! Just be yourself.. Be nice.. Be attentive.. And you'll do great! If you're worried about your age, I know a few sophomores who are 21 and they still got houses! Hope this helps(:

This honestly makes me feel so much better! Thank you so much! I think I am gonna do it next year and hopefully I'll get a bid but if nothing else just to meet new people, I just wish I had done this my freshman year instead of waiting till now haha

My grades aren't what has me concerned, I'm here on a scholarship and have a high gpa so I know I have that in my favor. The only reason I can't rush this semester is because I'm also working and I would be stretching myself thin by trying to join a sorority too. And all of my friends aren't in the same house they're kinda scattered so I wouldn't have a ton of girls in one house that could all pull for me. Thanks for the good luck though! I'll definitely need it
