Executive Committee of the student association is Chi O and DG. All selections are either Chi O, DG or Independent. Does this sound like the proper procedure to anybody?

They post the total number of votes for the only two elected positions on the Homecoming Court. Do they also post the names of the people on the committee that does the selecting of the other positions? Who is the person or people that think that the students electing their own homecoming court and Mr. and Miss MSU is not the right system? Amazed by this.

Remember the students vote ONLY for king and queen - everyone is picked by “committee” - very unique system

@Wait.... Because recent alums have a little insight into the history of HOCO elections and might be able to explain why the current process is in place!

My older sister was here in 2012 and I've heard allllllllll about how crazy elections use to be. I'm so happy we are doing it this way now because honestly all the non-greeks hate us campaigning to them and we kinda hate it too. I like that we only vote for Queen but I wish they would do it the way they use to do Miss MSU elections. A committee would pick the top 3 and you'd vote from there. I think having so many options for Queen is still a lot. At least if there were only 3 options everyone could still campaign but it wouldn't be every sorority supporting their girl and then maybe a non-greek too. Thrilled we don't also have to campaign for maid positions because it's just excessive. Could be more diversity in who is picked but at least I don't have to worry about it.

Yes and before that it was a free for all with every sorority nominating for every spot. It was crazy and always full of scandal. My sister was here from '08-'12. The same group won Queen and had a maid in every class because they campaigned like crazy. Another group always set up a computer in fraternity houses and got the guys to vote for their girls. We are much better off the way it is. People don't hate elections like they did then.

And because the Student Association can't get a handle on how to run the elections they just quit having them? Makes no sense. There were always rules in place that qualified the candidate (grade point average, number of class hours). Why not have to be sponsored by an organization and up the amount that the organization pays for the candidate's registration fee. And, if the organization is caught cheating, withdraw the opportunity for them to sponsor candidates for a couple of years or some other like penalty.

You can rest assured that the DG's will have 2 or three on the court. They ran a convicts daughter one year and she won.

Not with the new process. 1st two years of this new way DG only had 1 maid and hasn't had a queen in years. Possibly not a queen since 2011.
