tattoos
by: CDI have a very visible tattoo on my arm of a rose. You can definitely see it when I wear sleeveless dresses or shirts. Will I be judged for this during rush next year? Do sororities accept girls with visible large tattoos? I'm sorta regretting getting it if it keeps me from having a social life at State.

I'm in a top house and we have a large number of girls with at least one tattoo. Most are very small and easily covered up though. If it's a giant tattoo down you're arm it might be a disadvantage like above poster said it's just not very professional. Rush is like an interview and I would probably cover it up! But that's up to you. Some houses might think it's tacky some might think it's cool. Just depends so it's you're call. I would personally cover it up but I also would never get a tattoo in the first place

Why cheapen your appearance with permanent ink? You know it's controversial but you did it anyway? Obviously your parents gave you permission to tattoo yourself since you're still in HS and not 18. So your parents are aware of the stigma attached with female tattoos, especially large visible ones. Hopefully they realize that your candidacy for future jobs are limited so you'll have to choose an alternate degree path. Sorry, most Fortune 500 companies (yes we have them is Mississippi) don't allow tattoos to be visible. Therefore, sororities, if they are doing there job to help you grow into a more diverse, hirable young lady, don't allow tattoos to be visible.
Greek life usually isn't for girls that don't conform to some social standards.

This is so stupid.
I have a giant tattoo on my arm and it was something that was special to me and had special meaning to me and I was excited when girls in houses would ask me about it and respond positively to it.
My tattoo is special to me, I wanted the house that I pledged to understand why it was special to me and love me regardless of how huge or weird it was.
And I found a house that recognized that my crazy tattoo was a part of me and loved me anyway.
