You went "Top Tier"? How do you, or what makes you think your new sorority is "top tier"?? EVERY SINGLE sorority on this campus is phenomenal! This whole "top tier" crap is getting old! Each one has something different to offer you. Yes, some sororities are quite selective in where they get their girls from, while others are more open-minded and like a better variety. Some don't want their house to be more like another high school and bring in multiple girls from same hometown, school, state, etc.

@PNM'18, please don't pay any attention to all the bashing of different sororities on this site and PLEASE don't pay attention to "tiers". Most of what's written is by jealous girls who didn't get into the house they want or are trying to make their house look better than another that might be a "rival" to them.

Go into Recruitment with an open mind and make your selections based on how you feel you can fit in, relate, or feel most at home at. You want there to be a genuine feeling amongst the sisters. A strong sisterhood is very important. Of course, philanthropy is important as well. If you feel very passionate about one, then try to go for that one if that's what is most important to you.

Good luck next year! Oh BTW- keep your GPA up because that's how the cuts go first! And get involved as much as you can with service hours!

Okay blah blah blah I didn't even waste my breath reading that. I was just saying it's possible to be in what people consider a top house and be from very out state bc people on this website make you think otherwise. I didn't want to say what house I'm in, but I wanted to narrow it down so she had a good idea. Even if you believe in every house being " top tier " you know which houses I'm referring too by me saying that. Chill. You didn't need to write me a 5 paragraph essay lecturing me. Get a life.

@ Chill, or Girk, or whatever your nickname is now. Waste your breath reading? You mean, waste your time.... oh and it was 4 paragraphs, not 5. Geez, maybe you should spend a little more time with your studies. Get a life? You should get a life, as well. Every one of US spending time on this stupid site should get a life!

And if you did actually spend some time reading what I wrote, I was not just talking to you-so CHILL! I was mainly talking to the PNM '18 girl who started the discussion. I was actually giving her some advice going into Recruitment next year.

I know girls in every single sorority from all over the place. Some sororities have a bit more of an in-state pull, which is a pro and a con. It really depends on the year too! Like this year our newest PC has a lot of TN and AL girls, a few LA, and one from AR and one from MO. But we also have actives and recent grads from other states like GA, FL, VA, MT, TX, etc. It's great you'll come in with a fresh take on each house and be able to make your own opinions..as long as you don't stalk GreekRank and get bogged down with all the negative crap on here! Trust me, 90% of it is false and catty and nothing like how greek life is every day. Good luck and Hail State!

I'm really excited about coming to MSU next fall. I'm not from the south (my mom is) so I don't know a whole lot about the sororities by am excited to go through rush next year. Watching bid day vids looks like a blast! I honestly don't care about ranks, etc. I really want to be with girls who will support each other and where I can find a group of friends. Because I am coming from so far out of state without any real contacts I am sure it will put me at some sort of a disadvantage, but again I am totally open and just looking to find a house to call home away from home.
It's very exciting to see pics of the girls running to their houses- congratulations!
Any helpful advice you want to share would be great!
