advice to pnms

by: Wishing you the best

PNMs,

Recruitment is approaching and I wanted to leave you with some words of advice. The right house for you may not be the right house for someone else. This decision is yours and please don't let others cloud your judgement because at the end of the day all that matters is your happiness. Girls do get released from rush and it isn't necessarily because you weren't wanted. A house or more may have wanted you so badly but dropped you because they thought you would go somewhere else. If this happens, please stay open to Snap bids. Do not get upset because sorority life is only a fraction of what our campus has to offer you. The girls in the houses get so invested in the PNMs and don't feel weird if we see you on campus and come say Hi. If you decide to not join a sorority, you'll be with 80% of the student population and I promise you will do just fine. Greek life can open doors but it can also consume you. To those of you that do accept bids, don't spend every night at a frat house. Focus on your school and work hard but at the same time have fun. Enjoy your freshman year because it is full of the easiest classes and gives you a chance to make Starkville your home. Oh and remember, each house has someone you can connect with. If you take the leap and accept a bid from your last choice, try and find that person. Good luck and stay cool out there. (No really it's like 100+ degrees during rush)

this is very good advice! ALSO: there are rumors that give each house a bad rep. it happens to every house on any campus. go into rush with an open mind, and don't let rumors cloud your judgement. i got a bid from a house that i liked until i heard all the rumors about it. i ended up giving it a try, and i love it. so keep an open mind and trust the system!
