reasons to not get a bid

by:

Actives in Middle Tier- what are some of the reasons an oos pnm doesn't get invited back during recruitment? In no way being rude, but I'm very oos with no connections, so I've already written off xo, dg and kd since they mostly take ms or other southern girls. TIA

Usually grades, lack of involvement/leadership in high school and/or the girl didn't seem interested in the conversation or said things that make it seem like she wouldn't be compatible with the house

I had a 3.5 GPA, tons of involvement in the community, sports in HS, clean rep/social media, am fit and attractive and had good conversations at houses, but was still dropped from middle tier houses. And I have no idea why. Honestly, most PNMs come in with over 3.3 GPA, are somewhat attractive and either held leadership roles or played sports in HS. So no idea how they choose who is kept and who is cut. I wish there was more upfront honesty about it. I thought I had a great rush until BAM I was cut from almost every house after Day 1. It would have been easier for me to come to terms if I didn't have good conversations and they instead stuck me with a dud rusher so I had a heads up.

It's loud and clear that almost all of the slots from top 3 are selected prior to the first day of rush. Is it the same for all of the other sororities? And do their rankings fluctuate alot depending on when they actually meet the PMNs?

Of the girls we already know we know which ones we would bid and which ones we won't, but there are girls we meet during rush for the first time that still get bids. Yes it's harder and there are only a few girls per chapter that this happens to, but you could be one of those people so don't count anyone out, regardless of "tier!"

THey only have a random few that get a fair chance. Your recs could help if they are from State. Non State recs don't carry much weight. Had a Mississippi officer write one and got cut from that house say 1, she was not from State.

Still happy with my house but except for ADPi who does not have State alums yet recs are your best hope.

@Mostly - So 10 girls out of the 900 pnms get a bid that weren't already slotted. Wow, I guess no one should "count them out"

TALK! Be VERY nice and engaged in each house! That will make a HUGE difference. Make sure to connect with the girl who is in the house talking to you. She will report back. If she likes you, your chances go WAY up. You must make a very good impression and it's VERY important that you act like you REALLY WANT to be there and you love their house and you want to be in THAT sorority. If you act bored, you will be cut. They want girls who want THEM.

You have to be strategic in your rankings after Day 1. Day 1 is grade cuts so if you are above the GPA you may be invited back to a top house round 2 and then on the list to get dropped Day 2. If you are sure you are not getting a bid there drop them Day 1. If you rank them high then you get dropped from another house Day 1 that you ranked lowered.

Do not give houses bragging rights for Day 1 100% return rates. Rank them # 8 and move on. You will land where you want to be and have a little control..

All day long. Day 1 rankings are so important. The top houses will charm you. Move on and rank them below the line. They want bragging rights to 100% return Day 1. If you are not a good fit for them rank them # 7 or # 8. You will get a full schedule Day 2. Move on from them fast.
