If you are an MS girl and think that you want to be a Chi O, KD, or DG the list is pretty much already made and it mostly depends on how much your friends will fight for you.
If you are an OOS girl you will probably be a Zeta or Pi Phi just being honest yes there are some OOS girls who are in the "top houses" but the vast majority are not. Both of these are some of the best sororities nationally and people often forget that.
At the end of the day rush is a crap shoot and girls slip through the cracks who did nothing wrong. Girls that had connections, spotless reputations, 4.0+ high school GPAs, and involvement have been completely dropped but offered snap bids which is crazy. Just remember that if you end up at any one of the eight houses, that they chose you out of hundreds of other girls and they want you. Being dropped from a house does not make you a leftover because rush has gotten so hard and the system is flawed. It is not YOUR fault.

This is so true! I was from OOS and like she said above, had over a 4.0 gpa and a spotless reputation. I knew girls in some of the top houses and even had an advisor for one of the top houses pulling for me. I still was released from those houses but I am ok!! Yes I'm in a house that the OP said oos girls get in and guess what? I love it! Was it hard at first? Of course. But I had to snap out of my pity party because I am not too good for any house, and neither are any of you. Please stick with whatever house you get because we are lucky enough to have 8 great sororities here and you will regret not giving your house a chance!

I agree with most of what's written on this thread, except one thing. There are really only three sororities considered "top houses" - ChiO, KD and DG. That's mainly because they are the strongest among the Mississippi girls. I'm not saying the other 5 are all equal, but they shift around year to year.
If you ask 10 different people, you will get 10 different opinions about how they're ranked. I will also say that I'm OOS and not in one of the "top Houses" - and it's perfectly fine with me. Not every PNM wants to be in one of those perceived top 3, especially if you're not from Mississippi. We're lucky here because all the chapters are great and have something to offer!

I'm gonna be REAL honest...and this is not a diss to ANYONE but is a compliment to our entire system. 10+ years ago, especially back when our moms/aunts/whoever went here, not many girls rushed and the chapters were very small. So the rep of a house was pretty true and the "good girls" really only did go to certain houses. Now, we'll see 1,000 girls rush in the next couple of years and each house has well over 200 members. Not to mention girls are rushing from all over the place, not just MS families. SO yeah we can't deny that Chi O, DG, and KD have a lot of tradition here, but they can't possibly take all of the good girls that are qualified for their membership. So let's be honest, the kinds of girls going to every house very easily could have been a top girl even just a few years ago. It's not that some people are better, it's not that some sorority is even better, it's just a numbers and who knows who game. In the real world, we have friends in every house, and NO ONE cares about what sorority you were in or what "tier" they belonged to the second you graduate. The kind of girls in EVERY single house are great, diverse, and welcoming. You'll find a place to fit in at ANY house.

I like this. I came to State thinking I'd only be happy as a KD or DG. Now I love my house even if it's not a "Top house" and am glad I got cut. ALL sororities are good! Give them ALL a chance!
