snap bids and quota additions
by: ?How do snap bids and quota additions work? Are they the same thing, different??? I've heard of them but don't really get how they work.

They're both kind of confusing to explain. They are nof the same thing though, one happens during recruitment and one happens after. My best advice is to just look it up on google. I know there are multiple sorority life blogs that can explain better than we probably can.

A "snap bid" is usually given out on bid day so you can enjoy the day and pledge with the rest of the class. You had to have been dropped from a particular sorority or you cut that particular sorority. If they don't make quota, then they can offer you a "snap" bid. I had a good friend go through recruitment last year. On bid day she got a call asking if she would accept a bid from a house she had cut earlier in the week. She said yes, enjoyed bid day, and now really likes her sorority. I am not sure what "quota additions" means. It may mean that the top houses are told they can have a certain number of new members for quota and then, at the last minute, they are told they can actually take more new members. This happened last year, too.

If you go to all of the houses that invite you back every day and do not suicide, will PNMs for sure get a bid? Like if I go to 2 houses on the last day but am ranked lower on both of their lists, will I still get a bid? Is that a quota addition? Are girls who maximize all options every day guaranteed a bid?
And I am thinking that a snap bid if for a house that doesn't make quota and can offer girls who either dropped out or were completely cut a bid. Not sure how a house doesn't make quota though because I thought that they have a bog list of a few hundred girls on it.

Every Chapter will be required to get Quota (A certain number of PNMS) based on their chapter total going into recruitment. Big chapters will have a smaller quota, Smaller chapters will have a larger quota. Quota Additions are the members that the chapters receive "extra" above their quota. This is automatically done by panhellenic when making lists after pref for Bid day. There is no list of quota additions or pin pointing that "this pnm was a quota addition". It is just the name they give to the addition numbers received above quota. Nothing that affects PNMS.
Once Panhellenic has the bid lists, they get every chapter's total membership. Panhellenic will then set a Campus chapter total, which is usually an average or middle point of all the 8 chapters. All chapters below this campus chapter total are allowed to offer snap bids until they reach that campus total. For example, if Chapter A has 300 and Chapter B has 200, with two chapters The campus chapter total would be 250. Then Chapter B can offer Snap Bids until their membership reaches 250. Snap bids can be offered anytime within a week or so after bid day. Women are only eligible to receive a snap bid if they are released before Pref Night or did not participate in Fall Recruitment. If you are invited back to a Pref Party, then you are guaranteed a bid no matter if you have one or two parties. Also if you receive a bid, you are not eligible to receive another bid for a year.

@Help - was your friend cut from all of the houses earlier? Or did she go to pref but was too low on the lists from that day so she was up for other houses to offer her a snap bid? Thanks!
