bid numbers

I was looking back at older posts to see my odds of getting a bid. It looks like ~ 725 pnms got bids last year and 775 pnms got bids the year before (2015).
Were there less PNMs last year? Or did tons more get cut? TIA
2016: 723 with bids (853 PNMs)

The number of PNMs going through was fairly close both years. Variable quota and PNMs reactions to it were the difference. As you can see from the 2016 numbers KD, Chi O, DG were allowed to pledge close to 20 fewer PNMs than 2015 and therefore had to make bigger cuts than ever before. Many PNMs who would typically get a bid from one of those houses weren't happy and many dropped out of recruitment altogether. In 2016 ADPi could have taken up to 125-130 members. Hopefully PNMs will give the smaller house a chance this year. Every house at MSU has a wonderful sisterhood and is strong on the national level. For our Greek system to be great all 8 sororities need to be strong.

Sorry but Kate is clueless. DG had more new members in 2015 because of quota addition. Quota that year was around 93. Groups were able to add more girls based on the number of PNMs attending their pref parties. It had zero to do with them having fewer members. Member wise Chi O is the largest followed by DG and KD. Phi Mu is 4th in size. Chi O, KD, and DG are usually have the same girls coming back to them with some wanting Phi Mu too. Kate is pumping up Phi Mu at the expense of DG. That's not how it's seen on campus.

Phi mu needs no help being seen on campus as anything but a class act. They are beautiful girls with sweet personalities. Last year, they cross rushed with the aforementioned sororities. From what most see on campus, Phi Mu's are leaders in the senate and other school organizations. You sound like a want-to-be snob. Go somewhere else with your attitude.

Not sure what your intent is with negative comments about DG. DG is consistently top 3.

Don't quote me but I think more girls were signed up 2015 than 2016. Plus a lot more dropped when they found out about variable quota.
Girls are told by family/friends/girls in houses "oh, you're a shoe-in for house ABC" and when ABC cuts them, they Are distraught and drop.

It's a fact that variable quota was designed to help lower tier houses . When girls experienced the deep cuts first round, they dropped or thought they'd get snap bids. It is true more girls either dropped from rush or did not have matching bid/invitations on bid day. More girls participated in rush last year yet fewer pledged. Also many were forced to accept bids they did not want! FACT FACT FACT!

The real question should be bids offered verses retention.
What were the size of the classes in May. Girls were FORCED and MANIPULATED and SHAMED into accepting bids to houses.
Advice .... if you don't like a house during rush don't pledge and save your parents $4000-5000 and go inactive fabulous trip!
And before you all telll me that I am the butt hurt girl that got cut... I pledged one of the top four, became active and still dropped.

DG thinks they are equal to KD, chi o and Phi Mu. Most girls that pledge these cross rush with each other as well as DG. Most of my friends that preffed DG became completely uninterested pref night. The DGs cry a lot, putt you on the spot with questions, and basically try and sit in your lap. Their numbers were lower two years ago than the other theee, therefore they extended more bids.
