contemporary dorm
by: DormWhich contemporary dorm do most freshmen girls live in? Your experience or tips are appreciated. Also, are you allowed to prop the dorm room doors open to be more social?

Seeing as freshmen dorm assignment is based on the date of your acceptance there is not a particular dorm that freshman girls stay in. Every dorm is almost all freshman for the most part. Unlike Alabama who has tutwiler there is not a sorority dorm really other than hathorn but hathorn is all sophomore sorority girls. As to keeping your door open that would only work crazy well in the old construction dorms. All new construction dorms have the electronic locks and tend to swing shut easily. You will definitely meet more people in community bathroom dorms. Your'e allowed to keep your door open its just whether or not you want to risk stuff taken.

There's no particular sorority dorm! Also I'm not sure that your dorm is assigned on the date you were accepted because I got accepted in October and put Rice last on my list and still got it. Luckily I was able to get in Oak after I was put on a wait list. You're not allowed to leave your doors open in the new dorms because the electronic card readers break if you prop them open. But a lot of girls I know lived in older dorms and loved it. Best of luck!

I think Moseley is by far the best location for contemporary dorms because it's the closest to most freshman level classes and the closest to sorority row. But any of the dorms on south side are fairly close to the row and are within walking distance. If you get on north side you'll definitely be more likely to drive to the house since it's a bit further.

I stayed in Ruby and made tons of sorority friends in my dorm as well had a good amount of my sisters in my dorm or around the village. But I know a lot of girls also stayed on south side my freshman year. That was before dogwood and those dorms were built though so being on north side might be a little more popular this year

Room assignment is based on application time not acceptance date. That's why most people apply at midnight, August 1, when admission applications open online. The closer you apply to midnight the more likely you are to get your dorm of choice.
