This is 100% true. I didn't hear about getting their charter pulled i just heard they were going to be on social probation for the rest of this semester and the next. This is coming from an acquaintance in chi o who told me this. Basically during formal some girls thought it would be a good idea to steal bottles of alcohol from behind the bar. One of the girls got super blacked and had to go to the hospital to get he stomach pumped. Before that happened though someone told on them stealing and to destroy the evidence they thought it would be a good idea to break the bottles in the bathroom. So then girls were coming in shoeless (like how many girls do at formal ) and getting really bad cuts on their feet. Some girls had to be get first aid because of that. Police enforcement got involved, chi o was banned from the premise and any future events being held there, and several girls were admitted to the hospital. Not sure what the consequences for this will be but I was told from a chi omega that they were just getting social probation.

If you are going to make up a lie at least make it believable

Literally ask pretty much anyone on campus including chi omegas. They will tell you what happened at formal. I don't know if getting kicked off is entirely true but I wouldn't be surprised. This still has to go to chi o nationals and what have you but I heard they were just getting social probation. Personally I think that is too light of a punishment and hope chi o nationals holds their girls more accountable... esp since they want to claim they are the top house here.

That all got them at trouble but the tipping point was when a chi o was way too drunk and assaulted a police officer

There wasn't a typeo but some people have better reading comprehension skills than others so I will try and spell it out for you . So while the stealing, and stomach pumping, and destroying hotel property, putting their sisters in danger all added to why they were in trouble, the thing that really got them was the fact a chi o assaulted a police officer which is a felony.

Something very similar happened to the Ole Miss Chi O chapter a few years ago. They were put on social probation and barred from having functions at a certain place in Oxford.

The MSU Chi O chapter received an award as one of the top 5 Chi O chapters last summer. Their charter will not be pulled by nationals. They may get in trouble but their charter will not be pulled.

Does the tie into the mention in the Reflector last week in the Bad Dawgs section?

Yea it's true. All the chi o's p admit this happened. I've been telling y'all they are straight on the outside but animals in the inside!

By: Not a lie-o
by: Hmm ok

because all 320 members did this...

An entire sorority is not defined by a few members. Period. The same is true for any house on this campus that's dealt with members crossing the line.

I have a feeling all of you who are wanting this to cripple Ch O will be disappointed. They have super strong officers and advisors. It will be dealt with in the correct way with appropriate punishments for those involved. It's not going to change their leadership on campus and won't affect them much if at all during recruitment. The Ole Miss chapter never skipped a step after a similar deal.

Go on and comment while you an before the next sorority scandal moves focus to another house.

I think you forget that in a sorority you are not an individual, when you wear your letters or you are at a function for your sorority you truly are a representation for you entire sorority. That is why even if one girl messes up (in this case like dozens of girls were involved) the whole sorority is punished. This isn't going to be handled individually for just the people involved, chi omega as a whole on campus is going to see consequences as they should. Might sound unfair but that is what you signed up for. Regardless of that SO many people in chi o failed here. Girls elected and in charge to make sure their sisters are safe as well as behaving themselves could have done so much to minimize the situation. It should not have escalated to the point where a sister committed a felony assault to an officer, or a sister getting so drunk that she had to be taken to the hospital. Anyways this isnt going to be treated as an individual matter and whatever punishment they do get is going to effect them as a whole as it should. Tri delt got functions taken away for literally one girl hitting a sister on a bus leaving a function. Can you imagine what chi o will get for this disaster?

Next year when PNMS are going through, (if chi omega is allowed to participate in recruitment) what PNM is going to want to join a sorority who can have zero social functions? The the best memories of freshman year and one of the most fun aspects about being greek are the date parties, the swaps, the mega swaps. Thats how I met my best friends in my sorority as well as how I became close with the guys in fraternities. I mean sororities are literally SOCIAL organizations. Im not sure why anyone would sacrifice their greek and college experience if they could help it. Going into recruitment with out being able to offer your new members one of the biggest perks of a social organization is going to pay a toll on them whether chio wants to accept that or not.

@chi omega

I agree that the whole chapter will be punished or should be and the actions of a few are placed upon the group. I just don't think it be hugely detrimental to the chapter in the long run. I don't know of any group anywhere who has not been allowed to participate in recruitment. I don't see that happening. Social probation, yes. Most freshmen won't let social probation keep them from pledging a group they want to be part of. College is 4 years not 1. They will be able to attend fraternity parties and will meet guys in ways other than a sorority sponsored social function. I think many people are letting their hate of Chi O get in the way. Top fraternities have been on social probation and it didn't affect their recruitment. I'm trying to look at this without bias and that's how I see it.

It's happened at several schools when a sorority has messed up pretty bad instead of kicking them off they make them skip out on recruitment for a year. Happened to DG at my sisters college up north. DG was THE top house there and then something similar to this happened and they were forced to sit fall rush out but I think they were allowed to take some girls during spring. Given the situation this is a high possibility
