by: me

I am coming to Mississippi State in the fall and I plan to rush. I know we are suppose to get recs, but honestly will they even help you during rush?

Uh yeah! You cannot be offered a bid without a recommendation.

But like if I have 3 recs for a sorority and another girl has only one, will it even matter?

Recs are more about quality > quantity. But yes, recs are super important at Mississippi State. Many sororities are unable to take girls if they do not have a rec letter. Also, it is even better if you can get an alumna of the chapter at State if possible - it will carry more weight

Some sororities cannot extend a bid to you if you do not have a letter of recommendation.

Ignore the negative comments. Not sure why people have to be so rude. As far as I know every sorority requires a rec in order to extend a bid. Yes if the members fall in love with you during recruitment they will get an alum to write a review for you. It's so much better to go in with recs. Take the time to find people to write recs. 1 per house is all that's necessary but 2 would be best.

No has can give you a bid unless they have a rec. But some will search for a rec for you IF they like you enough. I had an in state rec for every house except 1 but my stuff reached them because they mentioned something I wrote on my info.

I would try to get a rec from each house if possible. No more than 3 for a house. Quality over quantity!!

It is irrelevant if you have recs. They will create you one if they want you. Rush is 100% who will fight for you in the house. And if you do not already know someone who is an active you can forget pledging that house anyway.

So, coming from out of state, even with a great resume and quality recs, if I don't know an active in any of the houses I just don't even need to waste my time with rush? That's very discouraging.

Don't listen to No I'm from out of state I had a 4.3 GPA out of high school and I was super involved and had pretty good recs. I didn't know anyone on Mississippi States campus and I went through recruitment and got a bid from a house I didn't even have a rec for. I also got invited back for pref to a house I did have a rec for. They definitely help but as people have steady said if a house wants you they'll get you a rec. Just go through recruitment have fun and please stay of this site it's all just bs
