A lot of girls dropped out of rush because they weren't happy with their options. Girls think they are too good for houses or came in expecting a bid to Chi o, Dg, or Kd. Sadly its not that easy. You have about a 25% chance of getting a top house since they are not allowed to take as many girls. I think last year chi o took 79 or something and adpi could take like 150. It sucks that this system works this way now but the best advice is not to come in expecting a top house and keep your mind open.

I'm not exactly sure but I've heard from multiple people that out of the 800 or so girls that went through recruitment, 150 either dropped or were released before the week was over. But don't let this scare you! I was so nervous about this last year but as long as you make yourself noticed and you have a good GPA you will get a bid And if not, I know plenty of girls that were released and then did spring recruitment and now are in a sorority they love!

Wow! Almost 20% of girls didn't get a bid. I was thinking it would be more like 50 girls, not 150. That's a little scary for me as a new PNM coming in next year.

Were most of the 150 girls cut??? How many actually dropped before bid day?

If I had to bet, I'd say at least half of the 150 were girls that dropped. With the way recruitment worked this year, the house's a lot of girls thought they would be in prior to rush cut tons of girls. This left a lot of girls with houses they didn't want so they chose to drop during the week once their favorites cut them. Please don't do this though! Give your house a shot if you're lucky enough to get a bid! I am in a lower middle tier house according to this site but I am so pleased and so happy to be there! People may talk badly about my house but to me it's the best because it's where my friends are and where I've met my future bridesmaids!!! So don't be one of those 100 girls that dropped. You'll be so thankful you stuck with it

A lot of girls dropped after either A. Promised a bid by a house and then cut by them or B. Thought they deserved a top house and was cut. You also have a few that transferred to other schools.

just trust the system and you will end up where you belong. if you go into it thinking you wont belong then thats how itll work

I know Panhellenic reads this site. Be honest and tell these girls how many were released all together. Then tell how mxny just dropped.

Rush this past year was brutal. Lots of legacies were released early and even more right before pref. Recs are very important and they need to come from State alums. Model your behavior after the house you want. But keep all party pics to a minimum. Clean up your social media.

And you have to impress someone in a house or know someone. Just because you have a 4.0 and a solid resume don't assume you get to pick your house. There are 200 other girls that have the same or better credentials than you. If you are not from Mississippi and a large high school (Madison, Tupelo, Southhaven, etc), then your options will be limited.

Oh and yes at least 20-25% were cut or dropped.
