Derby Days is a charity event. Whether you agree with who one or lost doesn't matter posting on this site isn't gonna change anything. Why can't y'all just focus on the amazing charity that this event has helped. That should be enough to make y'all feel like winners.

That still doesn't negate the fact that it was biased. Just depends on which group the Sigma Chi's are dating at the time or who gives the most money. I would rather give the money directly to charity and bypass the politics. I'm not a Phi Mu but am a trained dancer. Phi Mu should have won dance. No one even came close to their dance training.

Points aren't given for dance technique alone. Costume, props, transitions, storyline, etc. all figure in to the score for dance.

Phi mu should not have won. There dance was okay but zetas and DGs was the best. Phi mu never really places in dance competition so idk where you got that they have the best training? Phi mu is good at cheer. either way it's a matter of opinon but if it was actually based on sucking up to sigma chi phi mu would have won. Obviously you have never been to a sigma chi function because it's literally just a swarm of phi mus

Um technique or not there dance was extremely boring and kind of tacky. Its a performance competition. They don't just look at the technique ( which personally wasn't THAT great anyways). There was SO much more that went into it like ugh mentioned. Props lacked, costumes lacked, story line lacked ALOT, they also were judged on how they portrayed their city and they decided to focus on the Atlanta Braves? And throwing in Harry Potter probably threw off the judges because they did that with out ANY mention of universal studios. They had so much to work with given their city and they fell completely short. This competition has NEVER been judged solely on technique- and your technique means nothing if your dance is boring to watch and your story line doesn't make sense. Not saying the dance was god awful but they were NO where near first when you include all the other factors. They had all the components there but I don't think they executed it as well as some of the other sororities did. I do think they deserved 3rd over KD though but the real girls who were robbed was zeta!

Hey yall just letting yall know this was lip sync competition and NOT a dance competition. Dancing is involved but that is just one aspect out of many in a lip sync! (: Lip syncs put ALOT more emphasis on creativity/ theatrics than the actual dancing. Fun fact though there used to be separate competitions at state for derby days. A dance competition where the girls would preform like a high school pom squad routine, no costume changes, no scenery, no story line just a dance and then they would also have a lip sync competition outside their houses. Pretty fun concept!

Dance competitions typically post the scores and those above items configure into the score, as well. If this a dance competition, where can the score sheets be seen? Are they available?

I feel like people would still disagree even if scores were posted

Doesn't matter if anyone agrees or not but will prove or disprove the quality of the judges. If judges are judging dances, then they need qualified dance judges.

Everyone knows the scores ARE NOT based on the technique of the dancers. Geez get over it!

You are way to hung up on technique. As someone above commented the dances are judged on MUCH more than technique. These dances are about entertaining the Dream child and his/her family. Judges look at presentation, how pleasing the entire scene is to watch, how colorful it is, costume, is it easy to follow...

Points can also be deducted if certain rules are broken. My freshman year we had a move where one girl flipped another girl. We had points deducted for it. Unattended props can also cause point deductions.

If you want scores ask the Derby Daddy for them.

If we are worried about following a story line let's try to understand the silver man in chi o's New Orleans. There was no mention of street performers. Or delta gamma's Beyoncé. Are we to assume that she has something to do with Houston? No one could follow.

Many "dances" or "lip sync" were hard to follow. The introduction to the particular point was lacking in all of them.

lol DG had the most solid story line. Regardless if they knew anything about Beyoncé it still went along with the story line because it was the half time show for the Houston Texans. They didn't just come out at random with Beyoncé like phi mu just came out as Harry Potter which most people associate with England for the Atlanta braves lol. Phi mu had no story line. Also who doesn't know that New Orleans has street preformers? It's not a pop culture reference which might throw off the judges it's a historical reference that anyone who knows about NOLA knows. I'm sorry you are bitter you didn't place phi mu:/ better luck next time!

Bottom line. Phi Mu didn't win in lip sync. Sorry. Time to move on and stop complaining.

By: Tired of it

It's not phi mu that's complaining, it's someone else that's continually bringing it up. Phi mu can clearly see that they didn't win. Not one phi mu has said anything on here- it's some other girls that are stirring up trouble.

By: Haha

..You're so clearly a phi Mu. No one else cares enough to comment.
