involvement, how important
by: OOS
I will have about 300 volunteer hours by the time I graduate, along with 4 yr athletics and a 3.2 gpa. Wondering if I'd be an average freshman coming into rush or below.
Do some sororitys put more emphasis on involvement than others?
Thanks!

I had about the same amount of involvement but what I realized is that the sororities barely pay attention to that stuff unless you don't have enough. The most important thing is who you know. Especially with how rush was this year, you HAVE to know multiple people in a house in order to get in if it's a competitive or "top" house. I was from out of state and didn't know anyone, and ultimately this was my biggest problem. I ended up in a lower sorority (that I am 100% happy with) but if being in a "top" house is a concern of yours, try to get to know some girls that are already in those houses. But your involvement is great so no need to worry about that! Some sororities are stricter than others with GPA but I believe a 3.2 shouldn't cause you any problems. Good luck!

A 3.2 is lower but your hours will help you. And they're right I'm in a "top" house and my best friend is in a "bottom" house and it's not like a thing. I'm not better than her people don't see your letters and think "oh what's wrong with her if she's in that house" people don't do that. Outside of this website, our Greek system is pretty supportive of each other when rush and elections aren't happening.
