cob?
by: HELP!Help!! I'm in a chapter that I really don't like that has been my very bottom house since day one. I don't know how I ended up in it if I went to two parties on pref night. I'm planning on leaving this chapter, so could I be involved in COB? please no hate.. I just respect myself more than to stay with a group where I don't belong.

Once you sign that form on pref night that means you are committed to whichever organization you receive a bid from for one calendar year. So you would not be allowed to participate in COB at any point this year. Give them a shot though, it always helps to stick it out for a week or two and stay positive!

I think that is so unfair they shoved girls into a house they tried to drop from the start and then they have that one and another they really like on pref night and on bid day get stuck with the one they tried to drop from the start. Girls got shoved into sororities they DID NOT WANT FROM THE START.

You need to respect the girls that wanted you more than to drop after 2 days. You got a bid there because they ranked you higher than the other house you preffed. They wanted you more. I'm sorry it's not what you wanted, but other girls would love to have that bid. You can't COB or spring rush because you took the bid. This is your only chance to be greek until next fall. And if I'm being honest, you will have an even harder rush a sophomore that dropped her bid than you did as a freshmen. Please red the advice I just posted on a new thread. You have a great opportunity here to make this chapter into something amazing by getting involved. Don't throw it away because you didn't get what you want.

Senior, why are you trying to guilt PNM or pledges now into staying in their house. If they don't want to be a part of the house??? then let them drop. PNM don't understand the process and they were made to feel like they had a say in the process. This was really reinforced this year and unfortunately they don't. Only houses have any say, they select PERIOD.
So let them drop, Greek life is not going to be made better by disgruntled pledges.

I'd much rather encourage a girl to stick something out and have time to move past the disgruntled pledge phase and into the I'm happy here phase. Last thing we need are girls who drop and keep the cycle going of "If I don't get A,B,C, etc house I'm dropping."
