rush

Philanthropy night I had four houses on my schedule and to cut to the chase I'm going to name them DG, pi phi, tri Delt, and zeta. I loved and would have been thrilled with the other three but did not feel at home at zeta. Zeta was the only one on my schedule today and I was forced to sign the contract. Is there any way I could end up in the other three. I'm not saying zeta is a bad sorority it just doesn't feel like home. I know I should be grateful for getting a bid but I had a clean reputation in hs, connections, an outstanding GPA, and service work which even connected to my other houses philanthropies. I just want to know if there is any chance at all of being in the other three.

Unlikely they are trying to force people into certain sororities!

But you do not have to accept the bid!!!! So take and chunk if you don't want to go to that house...but you can't get a spring bid or snap bid because they forced you to sign card.

I have heard that national chapters have been notified that gamma chi's are forcing people to sign cards... And their are some pissed off alumni!

Give Zeta a chance. You'll meet so many more girls than just the ones you talked to during recruitment. There are a lot of really incredible girls in Zeta. Give it a few weeks, and if you don't like it, then you can absolutely leave. But PLEASE give it a chance. Zeta was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

I'm sorry but the above is terrible advice. This rush has been brutal and I feel for you. Bit since you signed the card you cannot accept a bid to any other house for a full year. If you want to be Greek you need to do it with Zeta. I know it's hard right now because you're hurt, but please stick with it a little longer. You met only a handful of girls during rush and with chapter as big as ours you will absolutely find friends everywhere! Right now there are other girls in your position and y'all will find each other. Once you're in a sorority the letters hardly matter. You will have great friends, meet new people, have doors opened for you, participate in events and parties, and you'll always regret not giving it a chance. I didn't "feel at home" at my house until after initiation. It's very common, I promise. Either way at this point you can't pledge anywhere but Zeta from now until the day before Zeta initiation. Go tomorrow, meet people, and give it a chance! If by initiation you still don't see it working then drop, but at least try! There are amazing girls there and they saw something in you that made them love you and want you!

What is my financial responsibility if I take the bid and drop before initiating??? Will I have to pay for a full year even if I drop? My gamma chi said I did?

I have never heard of anyone being forced to pay for a full year if they drop. My parents and I signed a billing contract with my sorority but I don't remember anything like that being in it.

Why didn't you try harder to impress us if you really think we will be happy there AFTER initiation. I actually don't mean that question, but it is as equally ridiculous as your statement for us to take your bid "If you want to be Greek it needs to be with Zeta." So I should give you my money even though you didn't do your job this week to make us feel wanted? I'm glad you are happy with your decision with Zeta, but you Bid Shaming us is manipulative and shady. Your advice is self-serving. I think you live in a glass house and should most likely stop throwing stones at the person who wrote response #1.

I'm in the exact same situation along with so many other girls. It's not fair to us but we unfortunately can't do anything about it
