sorority joining
by: Out of state girlHey y'all, I'm from out of state (Michigan) and was wondering what sorority I should look into joining. I'm looking into agriculture for my major but I'm not sure yet. I don't know much about the sororitys on campus but If you have any suggestions I'd love to here them, thanks.

Every house has out-of-state members. At SEC schools in house connections are super important with top houses especially. I'm not saying it's impossible to get into a top house without connections but it's much harder. The best part is all houses here have a strong sisterhood and despite the crap you read on here we are generally supportive of the whole Greek community. When you come for orientation make sure to visit the sorority tables during the organizational meeting. There's nothing wrong with introducing yourself to the sorority girls there. Many orientation leaders are sorority women. Introduce yourself to them as well and feel free to ask questions.

Don't focus on the "top house" BS. When you come through rush, show every house the amazing woman that you are and what you could bring to their sorority. Find a house that you could see yourself happy in and don't pick one just because they are considered "top tier". Every chapter at MsState has something amazing to offer you and there are great girls in them all. I'd suggest sending in rec letters to as many of the sororities as possible from an alum. If you do not know any, there are usually local alumni chapters near you and you can reach out to them. I wish you the best and I hope you find your home on the row.
