There are around 650 girls going through rush. Is that a normal amount?

I think last year was 500 or so.

Last year there were around 600. This year there are 650.

It's the number of girls who go to prefs divided by the number of sororities. Theoretically, there would be a bid for every woman who attends prefs but some may drop if they don't get the bid they want.
