Anyone else on here that got completely dumped by every sorority except the one with all the purple hair and piercings? This is just a great way to start college. What doesn’t compute is a lot of the girls I met during recruitment that also got dropped you would have thought would have been a sorority’s dream catch. What’s up with that?

Give the sorority you're left with a try - you can always drop later on. It is a great way to start college and you honestly rush week doesn't give you the complete vibe of each house. See how you get along with the sisters outside of recruitment and go from there. It can't hurt you to try.

The girls were very nice but I am not the piercing/dying my hair crazy colors type. No judgment and I admire the way they are not afraid to be themselves but I just didnt fit in.

Some of the other girls at rush (actually some that I am friends with unfortunately) were being really mean to them and of course these girls got a bid from the “top” sororities.

So messed up.

Not every girl is the same and that goes for every sorority. It can’t hurt you to try and if you drop before initiation you can still rush again

maybe you shouldn't be worried about how these girls "look" and focus on their goals, sisterhood, etc. Really? Completely shut out an org over some hair dye? lol Sounds like you're too worried about the wrong things and aren't thinking about what you can bring to the org. Try spring rush, or maybe wait until next year when you mature a little.

-Also, realize, you are not entitled to be in a sorority. Sorry

Hey crybaby, it’s obvious you’re a dphie. We know that’s who this post is about. Y’all got like what, 18 girls? You literally had to call inactive sisters to come help recruit because y’all did not have enough sisters to do so. How can you blame people for not wanting to be in that sorority? There’s a reason everyone disaffiliates.

This reply is very rude. The original poster just said she felt like she didn’t fit in with those girls. If you don’t see yourself fitting in, it’s not a crime. She never said she was “entitled” to be in a sorority either.

Being disappointed is a normal and sane reaction after what happened, and I for one think it’s great she posted because I know there are a lot of other girls are in the same boat who are struggling with this.

Try having some sympathy instead of bring so judgmental.

The initial reply is rude but the underlying point is good - don’t shut out an organization based on looks. Your best friends and bridesmaids could be in that house, but youll never know until you give it a shot.

If you're "southern" style, don't go to a knowingly urban sorority if you know it doesn't fit your ideals. These are the people that will be your friends for life. Why wouldn't someone want to he with someone who fits their likes and dislikes. Let's be honest. This particular sorority is no where near "southern", and it does not appear that they are trying to recruit such. Not trying to be rude, but someone judging their looks can tell that they wouldn't be a fit. Especially since that sorority has to give bids to every girl, the ball is in the PNM'S court.

I was a part of that sorority once, disaffiliated and that was the best decision of my life. I regret ever joining that chapter

Look for any COB opportunities that might come up. Make sure the Greek Life office knows you are interested. If COB doesn't work out, concentrate on your grades, join an org or two that you are interested in ( if it has a strong Greek presence, even better), get to know girls in sororities, and try again next year.
