how can that be?
by: JwOkay. Help a sister out. If quota is 63 and there are 8 sororities and over 600 pnm, how come the sororities didn't make quota? There's like almost 200 pmn not getting placed? My friend preffed one of the sororities that didn't meet quota, does that mean they would rather not meet quota than have her as a sister? Just Confused about the process? Thanks

So quota is set after pref and bids favor a pnm's choice. If a girl SIP's she can't be matched. So no bid. Some girls drop and don't sign a MRABA. Also you have to get to bid day. If your grades suck or you drop, you aren't counted in the quota. And some chapters are allowed to not take girls. Depends on the national.

Quota is set by the school, each can have a certain amount. I think the quota was 58 or 59. The sororities that have more took more to fill their chapter. If you pref 2 soririties, you are guarenteed 1 of them on bid morning, if you have only 1 left going to pref day, you get the one you preffed.. However if you have 2 on pref and suicide only 1, then there is a chance you will not get one

Quota = # of girls signing a pref card (MRABA)/# of houses. Quota this year was 58. Everyone made quota except Kappa (50) and DPhie (31).
Girls who didn't get a bid:
a) dropped after pref and didn't sign a pref card
b) SIP where they had two pref houses, only wrote one and weren't high enough on the bid list
c) maximized their options, wrote all houses down, got a bid and it was their second choice and didn't accept it
Cuts for grades happen way before pref
Quota additions happen when a girl maximizes her options but isn't high enough on the bid list at either option, so because she's guaranteed a bid, as a reward for maximizing, the computer places her. RFM rules vary by campus, but sometime it's to the PNM's first choice, sometimes it's to the smaller of the chapters she preffed. With QAs you can actually be over total. Total is adjusted within 72 hours following bid day and again in january.

That makes since but how could you make it to bid day and pref two and still not get a bid from either? Still confused
