bid day

by:

So i'll be rushing this coming fall and I'm just really nervous about not getting a bid, when southern recalculated my gpa it went down a lot, almost to the rush cutoff gpa. I'm just wondering from current girls in sororities how much this affects my chances of getting a bid or if yall would recommend waiting till later to rush, even though I really would like to go through formal recruitment this fall! Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure you need a 2.75 to rush, I could be wrong though. As long as you have over a 3.0 you should be fine and shouldn't have a problem getting in any sorority! Just be yourself, even if you don't have a great gpa doesn't mean someone won't fall in love with you and bump you up anyways!

I have a 2.8 when its recalculated by southern! That's why I'm worried about not getting a bid but thank you!!

My worry is just the opposite. I have a 3.7 and I am afraid no one will want me because they will think I just study and I am not any fun.

Absolutely not! Omg everyone appreciates a good gpa and it will help your chances a lot!

This is not true at all! It looks great on you to have a high gpa because it will boost the sororities overall gpa.

Omg no!!! I went into rush with a 3.9 and all the sororities LOVE girls that have grade point averages because it shows your hard working! Don't be worried about that at all!

2.8 may hurt you because it is just enough to rush. My house has a GPA minimum of 3.0, no exceptions. I know last year we had a few girls during rush who all had 100% equal chances (basically they weren't on the top of the list but we were still interested) if their GPAs were equal. Out of those girls we had to pick based on who had better grades. On the other hand we had a few girls who wowed us and got in no problem with a 3.00 flat. I can't speak for other houses. What do you have in extracurricular, leadership and so on? If you have a great resume otherwise and hold your self well during recruitment you should do okay. Keep an open mind. We do have a smaller greek system so it may seem like the end of the world if ADPi and KD cut you early on but it really, really isn't. I will say this, if you go through and don't feel at home where you get a bid don't accept it just because you feel you have to join a house. You will end up dropping. Or say you get released all together. Then look into COB/snap bids and then some houses will have open spots in spring.
If all of that fails- get good grades your freshman year, keep a good reputation, avoid drama, make as many greek friends as possible and give it go your sophomore year! My HS BFF got into KD that way. Best of luck!

Thank you so much!! I have been involved in clubs all throughout high school like student council, spanish, environmental, interact, deca etc.. as well as volunteer for a bunch of organizations outside of school, I also played a sport my first two years of high school. How does that work with COB's and snap bids?

Wasn't bragging. I am generally worried because I have spent most of my time worried about grades instead of extracurricular activities.
