how does bid day work

I'm not familiar with all of this but how does bid day work? I know they give you a card with the chapter you got a bid from but do they release you house by house so theres not 1000 girls running down at the same time? How does this all work

You go into a big room, everyone gets there bid cards, you all open them at the same time. Everyone freaks out and screams... Then one at a time starting with the end of row they let the girls run.
