where are cs supporters now?
by: Well
With the email put out by Interim Chancellor Foley today, I hope all of you ridiculous people that continued to support the protests, and protest leaders, until just days ago, realize how you were fooled and used.
The information put out in the email today is actually even more alarming than what is stated. And sadly, we will continue to see a drop in enrollment as student are concerned about these massive budget cuts affecting the quality of degree they are seeking.
As much love and pride one might have for this University, sadly, finances will play into the decision of many to either not attend, or to transfer. Some of you will of course say, just go. If you are one of those people, you are certainly not one that loves this Universty; at this time despite your own defensive feelings, you should not be encouraging people to leave, yet you should realize the major impact these events bring to some quality programs here.
The fact that one of the lead protesters publicly stated this week that he has not been affiliated with this group since November says so much. And he is one that realizes the inaccuracies and 'tales' told to the media did, in fact, end up hurting a University that provided so much to him.
It truly is time for people to band together and take control and place pride again in this University.
#1by: Your opinion
You are entitled to your opinion, of course, and I am entitled to mine. I am immensely proud of this university, never more so than when it stood for equality and opportunity for all students. Not just those who are white, not just those who are middle class, not just those who don't need to have a movement or a protest to protect their rights. If you disagree with that message because of the shortcomings of a student who "lied," then God help you. Because you will find every step of the way that people go overboard when a cause is very important to them. They get caught up in the moment to achieve the greater good. What this university stands for now -- equality for all students, backed by an enlightened administration -- is far more important than whether or not you disagree with the means that achieved that end. And if you don't agree with what this university stands for, WE DON'T WANT YOU. It's that simple. And it is my pride in this place that hopes you go far, far away and spout your negativity somewhere else. Progress isn't easy. Progress isn't perfect. But progress is necessary. So you may think the protests hurt this university, but the reality is that you just didn't agree with them. Shame on you for putting your narrow-minded need for attention ahead of what a fine university has accomplished.
#2by: Whatever.
The "still concerned" march was a joke. At least get people who are articulate and know how to use the English language to Speak into the megaphone. I was disgusted and while I supported the initial movement, I am no longer in favor of anything they are doing. They don't represent me at all. I'm transferring after this semester. I'm done.
#3by: The reality
The OP keeps posting on this site about how disgusted she is about the whole thing, which most people view as a positive thing for our university. Have you stopped to consider that it is the OP who is hurting the reputation of our school and that it is the OP who actually is lying, because of her twisted perception of what actually went on. If it is NEVER OK to lie, well, then I think it's time for the OP to shut up.

If Concerned Students 1950 weren't aware or didn't understand the severity of the repercussions for their actions, they now should understand exactly what the shortfall will mean - fewer scholarship and grant dollars, reduced student services, and a compromised learning environment. Not just for their small group but for ALL students attending Mizzou. Each and every one of those protesters - and in particular Jonathon Butler and Peyton Head - bear the responsibility, along with idiots like Melissa Click and Janna Nadler. You all have effectively brought this on because of your selfiness and need to be in the spotlight, you DO NOT REPRESENT all of the students and faculty at Mizzou. Hope you are happy with what you've accomplished - time for you to shut up and go back to class, wise up and earn a degree like 99% of the rest of the Mizzou student body.

^ Clearly you are part of the problem. Going overboard is one thing, lying is another-and it is NEVER OK TO LIE when you are putting students emotional and physical safety in jeopardy! "Getting caught up in the moment" and lying to make a point is never ok. Good leaders command discipline, morals and restraint. And to put a university in the financial position they are in now because one 'wanted to make a point' or 'got caught up in the moment'? Do you have any values at all?
Basically, you are contradicting yourself. You are saying if you don't agree with what this university stands for to leave. Lol, please re read your post because clearly you are 'getting caught up in the moment' and sounding like a child trying to make a point. It's time to move forward-you are still looking back.
