the downside of greeklife..

by: Ayyy

No matter what sorority you rush... It separates us. I hate how we identify with these sororities and that it makes us kind of closed off to potentially having other friends in different sororities. Of course, I do have friends in other sororities, but I meet cool girls sometimes and then it's like we tell each other what sorority we're in and sometimes it's weird after... We need more things that bring us together as one, regardless of the rankings and popularity contests. Best memory is at gulf shores when everyone got to hang out and go house to house on the beech and just have a good time! (These goes for frats too of course)

Are there people that agree with me?

I think when you live in the house it is all about your sorority. But as I get more involved in my major, with projects and study groups, my circle of friends keeps growing and what house you are in doesn't really matter -- or even if you are Greek at all.

I don't feel closed off at all. My sisters are great, but I still have friends from the dorm, friends from other houses, friends from class projects. I couldn't imagine life without my sisters, but i also couldn't imagine a life ONLY WITH my sisters. that's not what college is about.

Sounds like a personal problem. I have friends in all sorts of houses because I'm active in other activities other than just my sorority. Anyone who feels closed off to other Greeks should branch out.

I can assure you this gets better with both age and maturity level
