outcast in your pledge class

by:

Have any of you felt like an outcast in your sorority? Girls are nice to me but no one in my sorority besides 3 girls including my big and shown any desire of having anything but a superficial friendship. I constantly am going out with girls in other sororities because no one else has cared to get to know be despite my effort and it's so frustrating. I do not wanna drop but I want friends too.....

Let's see. You're critical of your sorority because no one has gone out of their way to get to know you. Seems to me you need to go out of your way to get to know them.

I think it is helpful. Sometimes you do need to go out of your way to make friends. I am an introvert and no one would describe me as warm and bubbly. My shyness sometimes comes across as being standoffish and I have struggled with it. I have wonderful friends in my house, but I had to reach out to them and make an extra effort. Later a good friend confessed to me she thought I was really aloof. This is college. Unless you still hang out with your high school clique, we are all here to make friends. If you take an interest in someone else, they probably will meet you half way.

No one would describe you as warm and bubbly? Wow - that's a shocker.

I actually have tried! I go to the house for lunch every week to eat lunch and chat with girls in my PC or who live in the house. I've asked girls numerous times if they wanted to hangout, study or go out together. I've managed to go out with a new group once, but other than that it's always "yeah, totally I'd love to hangout" with no follow up or response or "I'm too busy". Depending if the 2 girls in my PC will let me live with them, I might just have to be randomly paired for roommates next semester :/ I might just change my approach and find their interests and see if they're more willing to be friends that way
