gpa for nursing
by: CuriousFor those of you who are in the nursing school what was your GPA when you applied. I know grades aren't the only factor, I'm just curious.

I have a 3.9
A majority of the students in my section has 3.7 and above for their GPA. People who have outstanding interviews and maybe flubbed a little bit their first semester do get in and they should because GPA isn't everything if everything else is amaiNg about you. It is an insanely selective process. The applicants for this semester just found out and they only took the best of the best.

I'm in nursing school now and my classmates are some of the most dedicated and hard working students at Mizzou. No argument. Our major is essentially 15 credit hours of class plus a full time job (referring to clinical hours). Takes a special kind of student to be able to handle that workload, so I respect everyone who has to work their way through college. When I applied, I had a 3.9, but people get in across the board. Your interview is more important than grades.

Everything is weighed the same.
Your GPA itself is 4 points
Your shadowing hours is 4 points, and it's about the quality and diversity of hours.
Then your interview is the last 4. Someone could have a terrible GPA but have an outstanding interview and shadowing hours and get it. This past semester they took some of the highest scoring applicants. I'm in nursing school right now and my professors were talking about how it was the easiest decision they've had because they scores had an easy cut off.

You're absolutely full of it. Although you're only technically required to have a 3.0 to apply, the chances of getting admitted with anything less than a 3.5 and hours of volunteer work is slim to none. My roommate was passed over the first time she applied with a 3.6 GPA and weekly hours at Boone. There's no way they'd allow someone with a 3.0 into the program when they're wait-listing more qualified candidates.
