let's be real..
by: JJLet's be real...no one at Mizzou had Mizzou as their first choice. It's everyone's "fall back" or safety school. Where did everyone really want to go? My first choice was Rhodes College.

You're right, Mizzou wasn't my first choice BUT I got a full ride here and nowhere else, despite having a 35 on the ACT and a perfect GPA. Mizzou offers very competitive scholarships to top students, at least those of us who are in state. It's more affordable than many options for those from out of state. Period. There's a lot more to selecting a school than just their acceptance rate. It's where you spend 4 years of your life, so you need to love your school, and college is expensive so you need to consider cost, just to name two factors. There's no shame in finding your home at Mizzou. It's a respected institution. Not only does it have the number one journalism school, but the nursing school is also ranked first in the country. Stop trying to tell everyone they're idiots. This isn't moberly area community college.

I chose Mizzou over Syracuse and UCSB mostly because I wanted to experience something new and I'm a journalism student. And the residency program was an added bonus. I chose it solely based on merit and I didn't even visit before committing. If you really hate Mizzou so much, you can leave.

I'm an out of state student with a 32 ACT. I could've gone to a lot of places but when I visited Mizzou it felt like home. Your education is what you make it, and college is about more than just the ranking of the school or the acceptance rate. I'm proud to go here.

I went to a small out of state high school and Mizzou was the least academic school that I got into yet my first choice. My parents could have spent double and triple the money that Mizzou costs but why would I do that? I can go to Mizzou for 4 years then go to grad school and neither me or my parents will be in any debt for it. Get a brain!!!!

So bored with all of this. No matter what some angry, misinformed b itch says about Mizzou, this is what we KNOW as true: This school IS the first choice of many capable students; there are many reasons to be proud of this school and the decision to attend; there are many fine programs at Mizzou, including nursing, accounting and the No. 1 journalism school in the nation; there are people who didn't make it into Mizzou or who were accepted on academic probation (thousands, in fact); it's not who you are coming into Mizzou, it's who you are when you leave; anyone who feels being a biology major makes them superior to a journalism major is just a troll trying to get a rise out of those of us who know better.

I know a lot of people who wanted to mizzou but couldn't get in. You need a 24 act, which yes seems pretty attainable but if you step out of your tiny arrogant bubble lots of people don't get that high of an act. The national average is a 20. My friend had a 23 and 3.5 did not get in. Another friend of mine had a 3.8 and a 20 act because she sucks at testing. I attended one of the best public high schools in Missouri and even then at least half of my graduating class probably couldn't get in.
