let's be real..

Let's be real...no one at Mizzou had Mizzou as their first choice. It's everyone's "fall back" or safety school. Where did everyone really want to go? My first choice was Rhodes College.

I've never actually known anyone that applied to Mizzou and DIDN'T get in. Not one person? Does anyone else?

I know a lot of people who wanted to mizzou but couldn't get in. You need a 24 act, which yes seems pretty attainable but if you step out of your tiny arrogant bubble lots of people don't get that high of an act. The national average is a 20. My friend had a 23 and 3.5 did not get in. Another friend of mine had a 3.8 and a 20 act because she sucks at testing. I attended one of the best public high schools in Missouri and even then at least half of my graduating class probably couldn't get in.

Wow...your high school can't be all that good if students get test scores like that.

Haha! So you're really trying to say that you went to one of the "best high schools in Missouri" and half of the graduating class can't even make a 24 on the ACT? Damn!

Not sure what I lied about??? Did you even go to a public school? Most kids in public schools don't go to a real university after high school, much less a school like mizzou. And kirkwood is a huge high school in saint louis, it's a pretty common school to go to... Not sure why anyone would lie about going there. And I wasn't lurking I'm thinking of transferring here because of family reasons and wanted to see how my house is here and this just happened to be the first thread...,not only that but I'm also from Missouri

You're right, Mizzou wasn't my first choice BUT I got a full ride here and nowhere else, despite having a 35 on the ACT and a perfect GPA. Mizzou offers very competitive scholarships to top students, at least those of us who are in state. It's more affordable than many options for those from out of state. Period. There's a lot more to selecting a school than just their acceptance rate. It's where you spend 4 years of your life, so you need to love your school, and college is expensive so you need to consider cost, just to name two factors. There's no shame in finding your home at Mizzou. It's a respected institution. Not only does it have the number one journalism school, but the nursing school is also ranked first in the country. Stop trying to tell everyone they're idiots. This isn't moberly area community college.

There are more than 4,100 post-secondary degree-granting institutions in this country. There are 1,937 accredited nursing schools in the U.S. Now, I'm sure NO NO NO N-NO!!!!! can't do the math, so I will do it for her. If Mizzou's nursing school is rated #36, either in the Top 1% (actually, top 0.8%) or Top 2% (actually top 1.8%) of schools in the nation, depending on which figure you choose. In what world is that not commendable???????? Does Missouri have an exemplary nursing school? Say it with me: YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!

US News only ranks 181 nursing programs, chick. The others are "unranked" and listed in alphabetical order. And 36 is faaaaar from "first in the country".

Emerson? Never heard of it. There are three superior journalism schools in the nation: Missouri, Northwestern and Columbia. From year to year their order changes, but Mizzou is always in the top three and, quite simply, the phantom program at Emerson never is. End of story.

I chose Mizzou over Syracuse and UCSB mostly because I wanted to experience something new and I'm a journalism student. And the residency program was an added bonus. I chose it solely based on merit and I didn't even visit before committing. If you really hate Mizzou so much, you can leave.

I am in a top sorority and there are three other women from Cali alone in my house who came here for broadcast. There are 37 journalism majors in total in my house and we are from all over the country. I take pride in attending a school with a major that attracts people from around the world. I can't for the life of me figure out why the jerks on this board take pleasure in saying bad things about the school they have chosen to attend. That is so counterintuitive. If you don't want to be here, leave. If you don't like your major, find a new one. If you feel the need to go out of your way to insult those around you who take pride in what is great about Mizzou, God help you. You are bitter and pathetic and sad. I'm glad I'm not you.

I'm an out of state student with a 32 ACT. I could've gone to a lot of places but when I visited Mizzou it felt like home. Your education is what you make it, and college is about more than just the ranking of the school or the acceptance rate. I'm proud to go here.

You dumbed yourself down by going to Mizzou. You'll regret it.

I went to a small out of state high school and Mizzou was the least academic school that I got into yet my first choice. My parents could have spent double and triple the money that Mizzou costs but why would I do that? I can go to Mizzou for 4 years then go to grad school and neither me or my parents will be in any debt for it. Get a brain!!!!

Both my grandparents and my parents went to Mizzou. It's a family legacy, so it was most certainly my first choice.

So bored with all of this. No matter what some angry, misinformed b itch says about Mizzou, this is what we KNOW as true: This school IS the first choice of many capable students; there are many reasons to be proud of this school and the decision to attend; there are many fine programs at Mizzou, including nursing, accounting and the No. 1 journalism school in the nation; there are people who didn't make it into Mizzou or who were accepted on academic probation (thousands, in fact); it's not who you are coming into Mizzou, it's who you are when you leave; anyone who feels being a biology major makes them superior to a journalism major is just a troll trying to get a rise out of those of us who know better.
