it's not. Some girls get dropped from the process, usually because of their grades, though some of them are just downright rude during rush. Most girls who don't get a bid choose to remove themselves from the process because they don't like the options they have left. Even with lots of girls doing this, more than 50% of the girls who went through recruitment received bids. If you are open minded to all houses, have decent grades, and behave yourself you will most likely get a bid. good luck!

In 2015, about 60 PNMs were released from the system. As mentioned above, this is often due to grades. A little over 500 women dropped. Maybe because they didn't realize the time and financial commitment before they signed up. Maybe because they just decided it wasn't their thing. Often because they had their hearts set on a certain house (or houses) and dislike their options. That last is the one that is a shame, because all the houses are amazing. But regardless, the overwhelming majority of women who do not get a bid make that decision for themselves.
