ifc rush
by: new tiger
Gotta say the IFC sucks at getting positive / any info out. Ive emailed once about 2 weeks ago and no response yet. Then I get my NSRO info today which guides me to the IFC web site which hasn't even been updated. I thought and expected a school with a great Journalism and communications rep would be way better than this.
Then some of the fraternities I want to rush have no info on their web sites about fall rush. Mostly random info from 2+ years ago. Are they really that unorganized / don't care ????
Sorry about the rant but its just another project to have to do in the process. Any thoughts comments ?
Thank you

I'll help you out bud! IFC formal recruitment registration will probably open in late April and close in early June. Recruitment is typically held on the last weekend in June. Cost was around $150 (covering housing in dorms, food, t-shirt and etc.) but could increase. It is a 3 day process. The first day being expo day, where you go to the Rex center and all participating fraternities have their recruitment chair at their chapters both and PNM's talk to which ever fraternities they are interested in (preferably visiting every fraternities booth). After the expo you'll go to the student center to preference your top 10 fraternities you'd like to go tour on house tour day and 10 alternates so IFC will be matching preferences from PNM's in conjunction to which PNM's each fraternity would like to invite for house tours. So for Example: you preference ATO and say they only want about 250 guys to tour them that day, and you didn't have that great of a conversation with them, or your GPA wasn't so good they might cut you, so your first alternate that wanted you (in order of numerical preference) to tour them will be on your list for house tours the next morning. So the next morning for you'll meet with your Rho Gamma (temporarily unaffiliated recruitment guide) and he'll give you your list of house tours that day. There will be a rho gamma to check you in at every scheduled house tour. You are required to visit EVERY fraternity on your list regardless of whether you like them or not

It's a tiring process, not half as stressful as formal recruitment for girls, but still. Not that many chapters give that many bids at formal recruitment since most fraternities mainly recruitment informally over the course of summer. It's mainly a way to accommodate out of state students who typically wouldn't have a chance to informally because they don't live close enough. People from Missouri participate too. If you don't get a bid, you might get a continue to rush card so a chapters will be wanting your to rush them a little more when school starts so they can know you better before they bid you. Or if you don't get anything at all don't freak out, some fraternities will be having rush parties the first week of classes so you can get in contact with some chapters and still rush.
