the truth about the delta numbers drop

by:

I'm sure you're all wondering why my house has such a drop in numbers and I'm going to explain it so we can all just move on. We weren't supposed to be talking about this while the paperwork was getting finalized for the expulsions but now that it's finished I'm going to fill you all in.

Yes, we had a lot of grade risks and girls who were dragging our GPA down because they were more concerned with partying and going out. They were skipping study hours and worse-off, they were not showing up to mandatory philanthropy events. But the way our Nationals work as I'm sure many houses Nationals work, is that you cannot just get rid of a legacy because Delta is huge nationally and it always turns into a huge problem with a legacy who is already active is let go.

So we had to get all the paperwork in order and document the girls who were legacies and make sure we laid out case by case why they were unsuited to continue being members of Delta and then our Nationals advisors had to sign off on everything. This has been in the works since Summer '15. We finally got it all squared away and at the end of Fall semester before winter break we expelled all the girls who were not following the rules, not making grades and who were dragging us down.

Should we have allowed it to get this bad? No. Which is why our grade system is being restructured to ensure this doesn't happen again. But while most of you seem content to toss stones at us for suddenly dropping drastically in numbers, you're ignoring the important part of all of this.

Your house is only as strong as your weakest members. And this wasn't a case of a girl struggling in hard classes, this was a case of dozens of girls who were more concern with wearing our letters than actually fulfilling what it means to be a Delta sister. We encourage and help all sisters who struggle because everyone falls, we help pick them up. But you cannot help girls who disrespect what the house stands for and who disrespect their fellow sisters by simply not caring.

I personally think it's admirable that my house was willing to make tough choices so that all of the girls who DO care about this house don't suffer because of the bad choices of some. And if you want to claim we're a weak house for it, then fine. When our grades are back at the top and our house is stronger than ever this time next year, you'll see that we made the correct choice to ensure that Delta stays strong on Mizzou's campus.

I wish other houses in the Greek system would do the same.

I guess that's what happens when you choose girls primarily on looks. In my opinion, your alums and national should not have let it get this bad, especially since there are so many good, well-rounded houses on this campus with members who seem to have it all. Your priorities were really screwed up and you're paying the price.

There's no way this girl was ever associated with Delta, alum or not. It's someone trying to make them look bad.

So.... What you're saying here is that you kicked out almost half a pledge class because you're mad they like to party (because who parties in college, am I right?) and your average house gpa went down like .2? Interesting.

While this probably is a bunch of b.s., can we just admit that if it weren't for looks, TriDelt wouldn't have much going for it? Their grades are, and always have been meh. Their sisterhood kind of stinks. Their (physical) house is not up to the standards of other top houses and they are superficial as eff. I don't know what's going on over there, but I also don't care because to me TriDelt is hardly the gold standard of Greektown.

That's why they're considered mid now that they don't have looks. Gonna say low mid approaching bottom with those retention rates

Tridelt was 4th in grades in large chapters and just completed a new addition to their house in 2013? Not seeing your point here

Every house has girls that drop each semester because it becomes too big of a time commitment, they lose interest or they can't afford it anymore. That's more likely to be the explanation for Delta's low numbers, not expelling thirty grade risks.

or someone in TriDelt saw this theory posted (since other houses have done it) and thought "well, that sounds a lot better than what really happened so I'll make up a story and act like this is why so many girls have dropped and why we're over 30 girls below total."

But wouldn't they benefit more by keeping quiet? I mean people were already done talking about this so why would they bring it up again? I don't disagree with you but if that's the case, Delta's are more stupid than I thought.

The real truth behind the numbers being low is probably that not every member has signed into orgsync yet and that's where the Office of Greek Life pulls grades from
