the faced of cob
by: Okay nowHey there you wonderful high school senior, I'm sure you've taken an interest in joining a sorority if you're reading this, and I am so happy. You may be 100% wanting to join a sorority, be kind of considering it, or completely on the fence, but I want to tell you regardless of your interest level if you have the smallest interest in joining a sorority come July, PLEASE SIGN UP FOR FORMAL RECRUITMENT. You'll see on the Greek like website PHA offers informal recruitment in spring. Some of you might be thinking, "I wanna do my own thing first semester" or "I want to adjust to college life first" which are all good things, but can lead you to some complications if you do wait. What you aren't informed is that informal spring recruitment is not participated in by even a third of Mizzou's sorority. Lastly the amount of girls invited to rush compared to the amount of girls getting bids are extremely disproportionate and you have a slim chance of receiving a bid. You can avoid this by going through formal recruitment in the fall. All participants have the opportunity to rush every chapter during open house round, connections are almost meaningless unless you're a legacy and conversations and your

resume are what get you invited back to the next round. Quota for each chapter ranges 80-100 girls so most girls will get bids. You'll get to choose between what chapter feels like home as opposed to settling based on availability. Lastly, bid day in August is AWESOME and cannot be topped.

Only a complete moron would wait until Spring and forgo formal recruitment. The PHA website clearly outlines that COB only happens on a need basis, sometimes it doesn't happen at all and they stress that you will have limited options during COB.
Those of us who are on this website always warn girls not to wait until Spring because it's foolish and the rules are house by house. Anyone who chose to wait did this to themselves. We never hid anything from you guys, we told you waiting was a bad idea and that your chances of getting in were slim. You just didn't listen.
