questions about greek life

by: question

Hey, I'm going to be a freshman at mizzou next year and I have a few questions about greek life. First, how much time would you say you spend a week doing stuff for your sorority? I'm planning on working at the same time and wanna make sure I can balance everything. Also, how do letters of recommendation work? Do you only get them for the houses you're most interested in? And, also, do you find out which house you are in (or which few houses you might be in) before bid day? Sorry for all the questions! Would appreciate any info, thanks!

Your first semester will be tough. You'll have chapter and new member meetings taking up at least 2 hrs a week at the least. Then any of events you might be having that week, some of which have mandatory attendance. And homecoming season you'll be assigned usually no more than 8 hours of pomping a week along with a marathon weekend of like 20 hrs. at some point.
It's a big time commitment but it's worth it.

You might want to wait to get that job until second semester so that you can see how you are doing academically. Lots of people sail through freshman year and barely have to open a book. Others find it really difficult.
