"hundreds don't even get in"

There is a very small number of women who are released from all houses, usually because of grades. The hundreds who end up without a bid are those who drop out or fail to maximize their options after preference. They choose to go without a bid. That's fine, so long as they would rather not be greek than be in the houses that want them. But it's completely unfair to the system to suggest that there isn't enough room for all the qualified women who want to join. There may not be enough room in certain houses, but there is plenty of room in the system as a whole.

If all those women stick it out through the end of the week of formal recruitment, quota will just be a lot larger and more women will be placed.
