rush reality

by: Girl

I'm going to be completely honest with all the pnms bc I wish I was told this before coming in with such high hopes and obviously being naive- I would consider myself a very attractive person , I had good grades good act and 2 rec letters I think I have a really outgoing personality and my social media was perfectly fine and I was so confident going into it only to get let down. I am not saying this holds true for everyone but it was the worst feeling and I'd hate for it to happen to anyone of you. 98% of the time it all is based on WHO YOU TALK TO. Legit. Cuz at the end they're the ones that scored you. Don't take it to heart that you got cut cuz u wouldn't fit in , cuz trust me I look at some girls in certain sororities and not being narcissistic, but I can see myself waaaay more in that house than them. But they might of talked to someone they clicked with. A lot of girls think like oh the whole house is against me. I know for a fact j got cut from the last day cuz of the last girl on that day gave me a Lower score bc I knew the other girls and they told me after rush was over they both gave me 10s. It's truly so unfortunate it is like this and again I am not saying it could've been other reasons and I see myself as a perfect person why wouldn't anyone choose me at all I'm not saying that, but like sometimes you're like how the f did that girl get Ito that sorority and maybe this one girl she talked to during rush followed her all the way thru. The system is kind of rigge

Yes it is a lot about who you talk to. And that is why we spend a whole week going over how to talk to a PNM and how to learn about them and get as much info out of them to decide if we want them or not. And being on the other side, I realized how many things I should've done better. Although it is about who I talked to and if they were good at conversation or not, I could have shared more about myself. The system isn't rigged, it's just different than what you think it is. It isn't all about how good or bad you look on paper. Better luck next year or at informal!

You say the system is rigged because you were a stellar PNM and how could they possibly have cut you? Well, there are many reasons. I am in a top house and on the last day of rush I down-graded one girl because while we had met before and had had what I thought was a great conversation, she acted as if she didn't even remember me. I down-graded another because she seemed bored. At cut sessions I also heard about PNMs whose phone went off, another who spent almost the entire conversation complaining about the heat and how the house wasn't as cool as she liked. On skit day one of our members sang. She happens to have also sung in a Muni Opera summer production previously and yet the PNM laughed and said the singer "must be having an off day." I teach piano and there was nothing musically wrong with her performance. Another PNM couldn't stop yawning. So before you say the system is rigged and it's not fair, show a little introspection and ask yourself if you presented the best version of yourself. Because if you didn't I can guarantee others did and that's who we chose.

You just proved that the point she made is valid and can work to your advantage or disadvantage based on your social skills. Simmer

She said the system was rigged. I said she might want to look at her own behavior instead of blaming the entire system. I think the system has worked pretty well, actually, for all of these decades and I would never be so presumptuous to blame someone else for my own shortcomings. Maybe what they say about millennials is true...
