no, you aren't
by: GetRealThere is someone on this site who, for the past month, has kept insisting that GPhi and APhi are top tier. And I'm quite sure she is the only person who thinks that. You can't possibly be top tier when all you have to offer are looks. Here's a hint: if your grades stink and you COB and you have no one in leadership positions and you spackle on the makeup and you are known first and foremost for sleeping around, there's a good chance most people think you are a joke. When these two houses start to have a little more self-respect and stop caring so much about what guys think of them, they will be doing themselves a favor. You might also consider opening a book or instituting some grade cuts. Until then, stop trying to convince us that you are top tier because we just think you're sad.

The assumption that 'ranks' are the same for all people is ludicrous. Everyone is an individual and likes different people. I think you can only consistently rank bottom- based on who gets the leftovers after the more selective houses fill their class. Stop acting like only 1 person may have a similar opinion. Aphi and gphi have 300+ members who disagree w the poster above.

She is the same person who says anyone who doesn't rank these houses as top tier must be an alum. Who is she kidding???? Each and every day we see the GPhis and APhis who walk around on campus in their letters. Each and every day we know they are girls who never came back to our house because they didn't make the grade cut. It's not because they have 3.2 instead of a 3.3 at Mizzou. It's because they had a 3.0 in high school, and we would never give them a second look. You can't put lipstick on a pig. APhi and GPhi are the girls who thought you could.

As far as I'm concerned the person leading the campaign to make GPhi and APhi top tier might as well be trying to convince us KD and AXO are top tier, because at least those houses have grades above the all-sorority average, have great sisterhoods and have girls that excel in a wide range of areas. GPhi and APhi are one-trick ponies, and some would say the emphasis is on "trick."

Guess what, some of us have 4.0s and still don't want to hang out with the geek types in XO or Theta. When I rushed I had no desire to join one of the geeky groups, despite my high grades. Being in a "smart" sorority wouldn't have provided me any benefit, I wanted to be in a fun, social house. I meshed well with the pretty sororities because their personalities were so much more warm and fun than the other ones that are full of awkward girls trying way wayy too hard to impress. And so those are the factors I considered when I prefed the house I did. Side note... Guess what! You can stop bragging because your 3.4 house average is not even a good one! None of the grades in the sororities are outstanding, truthfully. There are many many bright girls in Greek life but also many average/distracted ones.
#9by: It's simple
This is what sets the top houses apart from the not-top houses. Grade cuts. If you have one, you're in a great house. If you don't, it means you aren't very selective. It's that simple. Now, can we move on? Because I am sick of insecure wannabes trying to convince us they are something more than just another "pretty" girl in a less than average house.

Do you even go to this school? Did you even go through rush? The top houses on this campus have multitudes of beautiful AND bright women. To be in a top house doesn't mean you are a geek. It means you are outstanding in many ways. In my pledge class alone we have several girls who were prom queens, homecoming princesses and who, as an aside, were AP Scholars. We have women who went to state in a variety of sports and others who have a gift for art, music etc. The top frats want to work with us and our socials are amazing. I truly object to being called awkward, especially since you can't get through the first round of recruitment in my house unless you are engaging and can carry on a great conversation. All of the negatives mentioned ^^^^^^ make me think the person writing never had the chance to see even one top house more than once during rush. They are the typical rationalizations we hear over and over from women who didn't make the cut. Too bad it sucks to be you, having "fun," but not much else, in your bottom-feeder house.
