no, you aren't

by:

There is someone on this site who, for the past month, has kept insisting that GPhi and APhi are top tier. And I'm quite sure she is the only person who thinks that. You can't possibly be top tier when all you have to offer are looks. Here's a hint: if your grades stink and you COB and you have no one in leadership positions and you spackle on the makeup and you are known first and foremost for sleeping around, there's a good chance most people think you are a joke. When these two houses start to have a little more self-respect and stop caring so much about what guys think of them, they will be doing themselves a favor. You might also consider opening a book or instituting some grade cuts. Until then, stop trying to convince us that you are top tier because we just think you're sad.

THANK YOU! I've been thinking, "who the heck continues to write all these ludicrous statements??" Gphi and aphi have never been top, and will continue to never be top until they work on being as well rounded as our other top houses. They are both low mid tier.

The assumption that 'ranks' are the same for all people is ludicrous. Everyone is an individual and likes different people. I think you can only consistently rank bottom- based on who gets the leftovers after the more selective houses fill their class. Stop acting like only 1 person may have a similar opinion. Aphi and gphi have 300+ members who disagree w the poster above.

I like how having a 3.2 average instead of a 3.3 average means APhi/GPhi have only one thing going for them. Being pretty must mean they must not have good personalities, philanthropies or sisterhood.

She is the same person who says anyone who doesn't rank these houses as top tier must be an alum. Who is she kidding???? Each and every day we see the GPhis and APhis who walk around on campus in their letters. Each and every day we know they are girls who never came back to our house because they didn't make the grade cut. It's not because they have 3.2 instead of a 3.3 at Mizzou. It's because they had a 3.0 in high school, and we would never give them a second look. You can't put lipstick on a pig. APhi and GPhi are the girls who thought you could.

As far as I'm concerned the person leading the campaign to make GPhi and APhi top tier might as well be trying to convince us KD and AXO are top tier, because at least those houses have grades above the all-sorority average, have great sisterhoods and have girls that excel in a wide range of areas. GPhi and APhi are one-trick ponies, and some would say the emphasis is on "trick."

Guess what, some of us have 4.0s and still don't want to hang out with the geek types in XO or Theta. When I rushed I had no desire to join one of the geeky groups, despite my high grades. Being in a "smart" sorority wouldn't have provided me any benefit, I wanted to be in a fun, social house. I meshed well with the pretty sororities because their personalities were so much more warm and fun than the other ones that are full of awkward girls trying way wayy too hard to impress. And so those are the factors I considered when I prefed the house I did. Side note... Guess what! You can stop bragging because your 3.4 house average is not even a good one! None of the grades in the sororities are outstanding, truthfully. There are many many bright girls in Greek life but also many average/distracted ones.

Do you even go to this school? Did you even go through rush? The top houses on this campus have multitudes of beautiful AND bright women. To be in a top house doesn't mean you are a geek. It means you are outstanding in many ways. In my pledge class alone we have several girls who were prom queens, homecoming princesses and who, as an aside, were AP Scholars. We have women who went to state in a variety of sports and others who have a gift for art, music etc. The top frats want to work with us and our socials are amazing. I truly object to being called awkward, especially since you can't get through the first round of recruitment in my house unless you are engaging and can carry on a great conversation. All of the negatives mentioned ^^^^^^ make me think the person writing never had the chance to see even one top house more than once during rush. They are the typical rationalizations we hear over and over from women who didn't make the cut. Too bad it sucks to be you, having "fun," but not much else, in your bottom-feeder house.

Lol well for one, like I said, dear psychopath, there are MANY brilliant ladies in our sororities. But there ARE many average girls as well (I'm talking grades.) The GPAs just aren't that great! And chances are that I cut your house actually (XO, Theta looking at you.) I just wasn't into these houses, I understand that houses target certain girls with great backgrounds but you as a whole those two houses just tried way too hard with me and you truly are very awkward as a whole. And PS I'm only attacking you the way you're attacking these two "bottom feeder" houses that are much more liked and well known on campus than your girls. Along with grades, personality also goes a long way. Maybe you should consider that instead of taking girls solely for grades. Houses like Pi Phi I respect very much for taking all the above into consideration. They're doing it right.

@ the above girl who wasn't interested in geeky houses. YES! It's so annoying to hear them brag about grades, I did well in school and so did my friends but your girls just aren't the types of girls we hang out with. The popular types just don't join the geeky sororities, I did not click with you.

This is what sets the top houses apart from the not-top houses. Grade cuts. If you have one, you're in a great house. If you don't, it means you aren't very selective. It's that simple. Now, can we move on? Because I am sick of insecure wannabes trying to convince us they are something more than just another "pretty" girl in a less than average house.

EVERY house has grade cut offs. Prior to signing up for rush it is suggested to pnm's to perhaps hold off a year and take freshman year to work on your gpa if it was not a 3.5 or above.. And the majority of the girls that were not asked back to ANY house were not asked because their grades were not up to par. Yes, some houses have higher gpa's than others-but that does not mean those houses are any better than others or have smarter girls.. Some girls thrive in an academically competitive house-and some girls who are just as smart-don't want the pressure and can still maintain a stellar gpa. All it has to do with is personality and where you feel comfortable. (Except for the girl who wanted a different house than she is in and now feels the need to spend hours at a time on this website bashing certain houses.)

You must be a freshman and not understand how recruitment works. Yes, Pan Hell encourages girls to go through rush only if they have a high GPA. But the fact of the matter is that anyone can go through rush. The top houses have strict grade cuts whereas the bottom 8 or 9 houses won't eliminate PNMs automatically just because of grades. That's because they could never make quota if they had strict grade cuts. So next time you might want to make sure you know what you're talking about before spouting off, GPhi and APhi, because clearly the details on grade standards elude you.

Choosing pretty girls only is also a mean of being selective. Since no one seems to grasp that concept...

Line up the photos of pledge classes on bid day and you couldn't tell the "pretty" houses from the houses that offer so much more. Every house has pretty girls, and lots of them. But the smart, pretty girls wouldn't be caught dead as an Alpha Phi or a Gamma Phi. And don't kid yourselves, I have seen plenty of beasts in both of your "pretty" houses.

To 'ah no'. Obviously you are not in one of the top houses due to the fact you can not read, comprehend and interpret. Maybe your 2016 goal should be to build your self confidence so you don't have to bash others that clearly intimidate you. Venting and spreading that anger on an anonymous board won't help-and since you have indicated you are not a freshman yet still come to this board to bash other houses says a lot about you!

I'm in a top house and we take grade cuts very seriously, take very little grade risks (if any) but grades still only get you past first round
