spring rush! who's doing it? how does it work?
by: FreshmanHi I'm really interested in joining Greek life this spring semester after going through fall and backing out. I was just wondering how it worked? Do we email sororities we are interested in? Or do they communicate through the thing we did on Orgsync? Also who is participating or when we will know who is participating? Really any info you have is greatly appreciated because I'm a bit confused by it all.

It's honestly dependent on membership numbers and retention. Depending on how many girls drop or graduate early is what determines if s chapter needs to COB. Most chapters won't COB if their numbers are really good already. What I can do is inform you on who did COB last spring. KD ADPi Zeta APhi DG Phi Mu & Sigma. of you have friends in these houses let them know you're doing COB. Unlike formal recruitment knowing people who are in the chapters you rush is an advantage and many chapters only take girls they were referred. Also if you are a legacy to a chapter you want to COB your chances are pretty high of getting a bid.

Start texting your friends in sororities and get information on COB events and if they can, pass your name and paw print to the VP recruitment of their chapter. Some chapters are very selective on who they even allow to try and COB. If you don't have a connection you can find the email of the VP recruitment on their chapter website. Start doing this in January before break ends. Don't be offended if certain chapters you heard are doing COB don't reply or give you an invitation. 100-150 girls can be competing for 8-20 spots. Some chapters don't want to waste effort on rushing a huge amount for only a few bids. Also some chapters literally only take referrals because they want to keep it low key that they did COB. Honestly I think Panhellenic should facilitate COB to give all girls an equal shot, but since it's informal they don't much say how it's played. Good luck
