is this true?
by: moiI am a freshman in a great house and I have noticed that not many of the sophs, juniors and seniors in my house date frat guys. As a freshman, I go to lots of frat parties and I have to say I am pretty unimpressed with the guys I meet there. I have read on this site that sorority girls aim higher than the beer and bro scene and that they tend to date guys who are more serious about their future (and not in frats). Would you say this is accurate, or are my perceptions off base?

Many girls in my pledge class hung out with frat guys freshman year when we lived in the dorms but not much "dating" went on. When we lived in the house sophomore year some girls dated frat guys, but not many. Now I think there are a handful of girls who are serious about some frat guys, but just as many who are dating engineering and business types who never really chose to be part of the Greek scene. I think most frat guys are pretty immature, but maybe that's just me.

Frat guys become less and less impressive as you age. You'll find that all of them, freshmen to seniors, tend to try and hookup with freshmen girls. I'm not saying you won't find quality men in fraternities but most of them leave something to be desired.
Don't feel like you have to date a frat guy just because you're Greek. My boyfriend is a geed because he's in the Law School at Mizzou and doesn't have time for Greek Life. A guy could be unaffiliated for any number of reasons.
Anyone who says you have to date Greek as sorority woman is a shallow follower with a herd mentality, who allows others to influence her life in a pathetic way. Simple.

I can't say that's the complete reason why people start dating non-Greek guys as they get older in college but it's a factor. Don't get me wrong I know many guys in frats that care for their future, but unfortunately know just as many whom the only future they currently care for is when they'll be hammered next or when they're hooking up with another girl. Another factor is a large amount of guys in fraternities just don't want to date in college. Many have a negative attitude about serious relationships in college and encourage each other to sleep with as many people as possible. My younger brother was a pledge this last semester and his brothers always gave him s--t for coming to college with a girlfriend. Lastly come Junior and Senior years, girls realize that having letters doesn't make someone better potential for a husband than those w/o them or determine of they'll have a more successful career. Enjoy freshman and sophomore with frat guys. It's convenient and close and their within your circle, but before you graduate realize that even though your sisterhood is for life, greeklife is finite and ends, so explore people and things outside of that sphere

Alright so here is the deal. We're a bunch of 18 year olds who at this point are low level degenerates. Probably different people when you add two more years of maturity. None of us are looking for Mrs. Right yet because thats not what freshman guys in pledge classes are looking for. We're not putting are best foot forward to date you at the current moment of time.

They also value daddy's back account because that's who provides the money for the beer. I think the most pathetic thing about frat guys is that they are so average. Average grades, average looks (except for the upperclassmen with the huge beer bellies), average majors... but their attitude implies they think they are all that. And then they go on to get bigger salaries than women and more opportunities for advancement while we hit the glass ceiling.
