i am so sick
by: Me!You see it on this board all of the time. Snotty sorority girls who think they are all that, saying insulting things to people who have really achieved something. It started last year when a double legacy from out-of-state who was quite bright asked whether legacy status was taken seriously during rush. And the responses were so awful. They mainly asked her why she would want to go to this school if she is so smart. The theme keeps recurring, until today, when someone who is in the j-school talked about her high school as being truly prestigious. And the sh it rained down on her, too. Even though she didn't even reveal her ACT score, people told her that if she was really smart she wouldn't go to this school. I'm sick of it. I am smart and involved and talented and I go to this school because it is the best school for my major. I am proud to be here because in my house I am surrounded by like-minded women who take academics seriously. I get it that not everyone does. But I sure don't understand the need for some women to ridicule others because they are smart and happen to go here. The reputation of this school has been rising steadily in the past decade. We are nationally ranked in a number of areas. Now, if you don't care about academics, fine. And if you are here even though you don't want to be, whatever. But why do you feel the need to insult people who take pride in their school, their major and their accomplishments? What's up with that? It's so provincial.

I think the insults toward brains and smart sorority girls is merely a reflection of the majority of people on this site. As we have seen from the Alpha Phi obsession, you don't have to be too smart to be on here all of the time. The smart girls probably are out studying or doing something worthwhile. It's the stupid bimbos who care so much about looks.

Here we have it again: a person who is justifiably proud of attending the best journalism school in the nation and all people can do is put her down and comment about things like she's not fun at parties. If you aren't going to be proud of your school and your major, why attend this school? And why is it that people get off on saying insulting things about someone who clearly makes academics a priority?
