hoco without the fraternities.

I'm very curious what a HOCO without the fraternities would look like after seeing how well KD and SK both did without their pairings. It's looking to me as though the only thing the boys contribute is money and the ability to lift heavy things. KD placed without their pairing helping them in the crucial end of HOCO and SK did phenomenal for a house that has little HOCO experience and had no pairing.
Our sorority women are so talented and amazing and our fraternities continue to disappoint. With the experience of a few houses like Delta Chi and others, HOCO might actually be easier without the boys.

homecoming without boys would be totally fine. I feel like the main thing those girls likely struggled with was getting their house decs up (doing the scaffolding and such) and just having less manpower. They definitely don't need boys for skit (SK's was hilarious!), dances are better without boys, and girls are way more crafty. Both houses were super impressive - not only for a house doing it alone but in general, both put on a strong, competitive hoco showing.
The frats on this campus need to step it up - so many in trouble for so many different things and it's still so early in the year. Get yourselves together, you don't deserve the fabulous greek women on this campus!

I think ppl are acting like KD and SK were at an advantage cause they got rid of their guys and as a member of one these houses we were in no way at an advantage. We lost a huge chunk of helping hands (even if they are at times unproductive- pledges do a lot for hoco as do many actives) and it was a serious challenge... Just even the things outsiders may not think about like scaffolding, having to have girls act out the characters for house decs, having to recast the entire skit for boys parts and redo skit and dance, having to have girls drive ppl to blood, ect. We did well to prove ourselves and a lot of hard work... that's why we did well.

I think what you all need to remember is that just because something could be done better by one group or the other, doesn't mean that it should be or that it would really work out in the end. Homecoming, and college in general, is an experience teaching young adults how to work in groups and become better prepared for real life. Real life doesn't always mean you get to work with whoever you want to, sometimes you need to learn to adapt and work with people who don't necessarily meet your ideal.

I totally agree! The guys end up messing up all the hard work, and if the two frats don't like each other, it complicates everything and you can expect no contribution from them because they're so fixated on their petty rivalry. It's almost like not having a pairing because they don't want to come together and help! Our Greek women are absolutely phenomenal - most of our Greek men need to step it up!
